Travel with Pets - Am I Crazy?

Just found out I'm unemployed as of tomorrow. Not unexpected. I've always wanted to drive the US aimlessly, but have two dogs that need attention. Am I nuts for putting a German shepherd and Australian shepherd in an 8 pax cuv and hitting the road? Thinking north from Detroit to the up, west to Mt rushmore, then??? Figure car is camper, motel every couple days to clean up. Could be fun.

Thoughts?

This could be a once in a lifetime experience so go for it. If would be even more fun if you had a companion to join you for the trip. @:-)

Do it! You and your dogs will have a great time. Do some research ahead of time as to dog parks in some of the bigger towns so the dogs can stretch their legs. I recommend petswelcome.com or dogfriendly.com for info on dog parks and motels.
