Aer Lingus Gold Circle Club - Aer Lingus Premier price cutsView Full Version : Aer Lingus Premier price cuts eiflyer Jul 9, 09, 4:56 pm Anyone noticed one way has dropped to 900 euro to nyc? EI Premier Jul 9, 09, 5:11 pm They certainly have come down in price EI Flyer ^ In fact, DUB-JFK is currently retailing at E780.00 one way if tickets are purchased more than 14 days in advance and bookings are not already heavy. There is also the option to upgrade to Premier from Y for 400 euro each way to JFK, provided there is availability. In addition to this, EI are offering heavily discounted Business Class Fares from the United States, which work out at as low as E600 each way when the exchange rate to Euro is factored in! Although these fares (the very low ones) don't accrue GC points & don't qualify for lounge access. EI have undertaken a whole new marketing drive of Premier also, both on the Irish and US homepage, with monthly menus & entertainment guides now available for download. I think that if the promotion that's being offered from the US was offered from Ireland it could boost loads in Premier (now called Business Class) even further. The fares are certainly much lower than they were 18 months ago! eiflyer Jul 10, 09, 2:30 am If I hadn't used my BA Amex voucher and the BA half price promo to go to Vancouver First class tomorrow morning I would consider EI.............trip report to follow! EI Premier Jul 11, 09, 2:52 pm That sounds like an excellent trip EI Flyer, looking forward to the Trip Report. I think that the Premier fares will continue to stay at such a base for quite a while yet so you'll have ample time to try out the new J class on EI. http://www.aerlingus.com/images/local/ire/prem_mp_2606.jpg It certainly appears to be major improvement when compared to the old Sicma seats & makes for good competition on the routes to JFK & ORD in particular. GoldCircle Jul 12, 09, 3:03 pm It certainly appears to be major improvement when compared to the old Sicma seats... I never knew what the leather armchairs were called - Sicma's not a word I've ever heard before either - I guess no other airline has used them this century. :D EI Premier Jul 12, 09, 4:20 pm I never knew what the leather armchairs were called - Sicma's not a word I've ever heard before either - I guess no other airline has used them this century. :D :D Here's the link from Seatplans - This reference to Sicma refers to the current seats on EI-DUB & EI-JFK which have the motorised footrest and limited recline; not quite sure what brand/type the previous leather seats were. http://www.seatplans.com/airlines/Aer-Lingus/A330-202/Premier-Economy The following is still used by Malahide Travel on their website to advertise EI Premier - I think the J seat on EI has moved on quite an amount since this promotional picture was taken :D - these were the leather Premier seats: http://www.malahidetravel.com/mtlv/images/seats_aerLingus.jpg colmc Jul 12, 09, 6:20 pm Nice carpet too ;) GoldCircle Jul 13, 09, 4:16 am I had a mental image of the taupe (grey/brown) leather seats with the large stitched panels, but definitely no motor for the feet. (You can tell it has been some time since I have done EI's TATL service up front). D BrianDromey Jul 13, 09, 4:18 am I think Sicma is the manufacturer of the old Premier seats. The new 'Business Class' seats are from Recaro, the same seats are in use at Qatar and numerous Chinese airlines. Similar seats are used by Lufthansa and AA. Brian. EI Premier Sep 9, 09, 2:59 pm Just bringing this thread forward once again as there appears to be some price reductions in relation to EI Business/Premier class, especially so on the DUB-JFK route near to this coming Christmas holiday travel period - possibly to try & attract those travelling to New York for shopping etc to trade up. This offer only seems to be available ex Ireland but is a somewhat more reasonable one when compared with the recent pricing trends. In fact, on some of the potential days of travel within the time period of the offer, the Business Class fare is only some 40% more expensive than the Y class one. Travel Period: From Wednesday 16 December to Saturday 02 January. Pricing: €680.00 each way, excluding taxes. €1430.00 return including taxes. Fare Class: D Class, Eligible for the accrual of 2400 Gold Circle Points on a return basis. Saving: €225 each way or €450 return when compared with standard fare. EI Premier. EI Premier Sep 12, 09, 2:14 am In addition to the posting a few days ago, Aer Lingus continue to offer the pricing previously mentioned from DUB-JFK, from 16 Dec - 02 Jan. However, it does not appear to be available to other destinations on the Transatlantic network. What I find most interesting is that Delta Airlines seem to continually monitor Aer Lingus pricing on this route & react almost immediately. Several months ago, Aer Lingus was offering discounted (D Class) fares on all Transatlantic destinations & within two-three hours of the discounted Business Class fares being launched, Delta had adjusted the pricing for the DUB-JFK route to a very impressive €850 Return (I Class). However, with the upgrading of the Aer Lingus product, it could now easily be argued that Aer Lingus have a superior product offering on the route. On this occasion, Aer Lingus has introduced these fares within a specific block of dates (D Class), only for Delta to follow once again. For example, within the very same travel period, Delta have reduced DUB-JFK (I Class) to €1350 return. From these tactics, it's clear that Aer Lingus are the price leaders on the DUB-JFK route. EI Premier. eiflyer Sep 15, 09, 6:37 am Just checking the ei website about their fleet. I see ei-jfk has gone. Does this mean all a330s are lie flat? Heading to orlando in Jan do fingers crossed EI Premier Sep 15, 09, 6:40 am Just bringing this forward once again as Aer Lingus have introduced a promotional Business Class fare offer. EI Premier Sep 15, 09, 6:44 am Just checking the ei website about their fleet. I see ei-jfk has gone. Does this mean all a330s are lie flat? Heading to orlando in Jan do fingers crossed eiflyer, EI-JFK has indeed left the fleet, with EI-DUB being the only aircraft left with an older configuration. Until recently, EI-DUB was operating the DUB-MCO route, however the route has now been switched to an A332 (all of which are re-fitted/new) & the seat maps for January also indicate that an A332 will be operating the route. That's not to say that EI-DUB will not be placed on the route but the chances of experiencing the new cabin interiors are very high. EI Premier. eiflyer Sep 15, 09, 6:54 am what other routes does ei-dub operate? EI Premier Sep 15, 09, 6:58 am what other routes does ei-dub operate? From the latest flight logs, it would appear that EI-DUB is operating on DUB-SNN-BOS-DUB-AGP-DUB type routing. With the reduced winter schedule being in operation during your travel in January, there is an even greater chance of having a new/refitted aircraft on the DUB-MCO routing. EI Premier. |
