four seasons is only $150 with breakfast for 2 and $85 lunch credit.

There are many, many deals in Phoenix this summer. Phoenix may be suffering even worse than Las Vegas. Also, the prices can be significantly different on different sites (such as I paid $296 for a priceline package including air/hotel and taxes from LAX for 3 nights at the Intercontinental Montelucia but no other travel booking site had it less than $500).

The Cottonwoods Resort in Scottsdale has a similar deal to this one with $50 or $100 per night food and beverage credit and is actually best booked on Expedia with the $10 off per night coupon code rather than the hotels own website.

This morning, I helped book my friend into the Orbitz 5* Royal Palms in a 3-night package from LAX including air/hotel and taxes for $310.02 for the first full weekend in August.

Everyone should do some extensive shopping around on the net. I check dozens of sites plus Mobissimo and Kayak before deciding. Also, check the coupon code thread. I used a $75 off coupon on the Orbitz booking I mentioned in the paragraph above.

id suggest considering virtuoso/etc travel agents and negotiating with the property.

i did pretty well on first booking (property also gave different rates over phone) and am considering a second. i only paid $260pp for airtran from WAS.

oversupply is the issue in vegas and south florida.

There are many, many deals in Phoenix this summer.

Was in Scottsdale Labour day weekend 2007 . . . Crazy heat. Too much really. Hotel deal was too good to pass up though.

Summer in So Nevada and Arizona are for people who don't mind the (dry) heat or for people who don't stray far from air conditioning. Having just returned from New Orleans' hot steaminess, these desert deals are lookin' good. :)

Yeah, summer deals have always been around. Maybe not as good as current rates but I have always paid very little for my July golf trips to Scottsdale. Yes, I am nuts for golfing in July but it is the only time I can afford to golf there!

I enjoyed a night at the Four Seasons Scottsdale earlier this summer while they were still offering their $129 special, and enjoyed the free breakfast and the $85 lunch credit (which can be used for drinks and snacks poolside). FWIW, their $149 weekend rates are still good for a few more weeks...
