American Express Membership Rewards - Does Amex actually ever process the online claims?

The past 3 claims I've filed online for purchase and/or return protection have always got stuck in a pending state after filing. They sit like that for 3 weeks or so until I realize I haven't seen the credit to my account. After calling for a status update, the claim is magically approved within a day or two. Whereas all my previous claims filed over the phone were generally approved in less than a week (barring any documentation/merchandise that needed to be sent to Amex).

Is it just me or do other people experience the same thing with online claims?

Worked for me. Pretty quick, too.

Yup. I even won one when a retailer advertised a rebate, then "ran out of rebate forms." I took a camera-phone photo of the display in the store, showing the phrase "while supplies last", and faxed a printout to Amex showing the date I took it.

$140 refund, plus tax.

They ought to freeze the disputed sum pretty quickly, like within about 10 days. If they don't, call.

Oh the online dispute works fine, I was referring to the claims process for purchase protection and return protection.

The claim I filed on 6/16 is still in the "Claim Pending" state. I'll give it 4 more days before I call to see what the holdup is

On my claim it actually stated that I will be contacted within 14 days, you are way pass that point. I think it is time to call them. Call on Monday after 9am EST and ask to speak to your claim adjuster.
