Hi all,
Planning on surprise the wife for our anniversary and going to stay at Fairmont Kea Lani. Can anyone tell me what is the best way to get room upgrade at this hotel?
Any help would be appreciated.

All the rooms in the main building are suites, and nearly identical. You can request an ocean view (especially if you are FPC platinum) if that is what you would like. Personally, I prefer a corner where the other balconies aren't able to watch you drink morning coffee.

We stayed at the Kea Lani for 6 nights last month and were upgraded to an ocean view room at arrival. We didn't request an upgrade were pleasantly surprised.
Beautiful grounds and gracious staff.
Enjoy your stay!

I am looking forward to an upcoming stay. I've booked a Signature Kilohana King for $770 and now I am wondering if there is a chance we would be upgraded to one of the Villas. I am not optimistic given the "low" price for the Kilohana room.

I think a villa upgrade is slim to none.
A couple of years back we were upgraded to a villa from a Kilohana suite. :D You can imagine our disappointment the next stay when we weren't so lucky.:( So this trip (we leave 8/3) I took no chances and booked the villa - the kids are getting two big to sleep on sleepers/rollaways, so with the great sale going on, I decided a villa was "better" than two regular rooms.

Going back to kea lani in october. 4th trip. upgrades have always been tough unless on a honeymoon (and you might get it for a day or two), but i have not been there during any time except summer when it is always crowded.
Hopeful we get one this time.
