With the Diners Club portfolio apparently for sale by Citicorp, andwith more than 100,000 reward points languishing, I decided to redeem the majority of my points this month.
If you have more than 50,000 points, you can utilize "personalized rewards," in which you find a product or service that you want, call Diners Club with the information, and it will get back to you with the number of points required to purchase the product, and then take care of the purchase and shipping arrangements.
So I called last week with my item, and was told someone will get back to me with the number of points required.
Has anyone used this service before? Was it efficient and effective? What point to penny ratio does Diners Club use?
I note that it has expanded its offer of gift cards, most at a point-a-penny redemption. It is also offering the same ratio to use your points to pay for travel expenses posted to your bill (airfare, car rental, hotel, etc). Plus a $5 fee.
And for those with lots of points to burn, you can pay down your balance with 15,000 points for every $100 in balance.
