I am considering flying SkyEurope over the summer (PRG-AMS). I looked online and most of their reviews are pretty bad. What has been people's experiences with Skyeurope on FT?

I looked online and most of their reviews are pretty bad. What has been people's experiences with Skyeurope on FT? Forget about SkyEurope, they're dead... After years of losses and debts, they never found their business model There must be a reason... gtownguy Jul 7, 09, 10:18 am I flew SkyEurope from BUD to ORY a couple of years ago (a route they've since discontinued) with no problems at all. Service was very minimal and everything (snacks, drinks, seat assignments, etc.) was available for purchase. Flight attendants were very young, multilingual, and polite. Plane was an older 737 (and given the signage in Dutch, apparently purchased from KLM), but it was clean. A few rattles upon takeoff, but the flight departed and arrived on time. At the time, most of the paperwork was manual - I guess to save money. Seat assignments were put on boarding passes with a paper sticker (not pre-printed) and luggage tags were hand written. Reminded me of flying back in the '70s. The passenger manifest was even printed on that old school green and white computer paper. Oh well...you get what you pay for. However, this was a couple of years ago and their financial situation is apparently much worse. If you absolutely have to be somewhere at a certain time, think maybe I'd book elsewhere. Whatever you do make sure and use a credit card to protect yourself. Stockycub1973 Jul 7, 09, 1:34 pm With the rumours going around about the status of SkyEurope you might be better off looking for alternate routes with other carriers. You can get Wizz Air from Prague to Eindhoven and then it is about 1 1/2 hours to Amsterdam by train. Use http://www.skyscanner.net ankor89 Jul 7, 09, 4:16 pm I flew on SKyEurope several times. Never had any problem. Good planes, nice personell, great prices. The talk about "they never found their business model" is not my concern at all. This talk is going for years and years and has not affected a bit, my travelling experience with them. I only know that they are excellent in service. And have unbeatable prices. I would certainly book with them again, would not like to miss the good service and loose money on top of it, by booking elsewhere expensively. Aviatrix Jul 7, 09, 4:36 pm ankor89 - welcome to Flyertalk. You have obviously not been following the news. SkyEurope is in financial trouble. If you book with them there is no guarantee they'll still be around to fly you. |
