From AM website: "On 1 July 2009, Fubon Bank (Hong Kong) Limited joins Asia Miles as a finance and insurance partner – so members who spend with Fubon Platinum and Titanium cards can convert 12 Fubon Bonus Points to 1 Asia Mile!"

I checked out the Fubon HK website (http://www.fubonbank.com.hk/web/html/cc_ccfbcard01_e.html) and they have a rather good promo at the moment for Platinum / Titanium cards:
- Welcome gift (http://www.fubonbank.com.hk/web/html/cc_ccwelcome00_e.html) = 50,000 Fubon points (FP)
- Apply using form on website = 10,000 FP
- Apply supplementary card = 15,000 FP
Points convert at 12 FP : 1 AM with HK$150 fee per conversion.
An easy 75,000 FP = 6,250 AM for just HK$150!

To qualify for welcome gift, minimum spend for principal card is HK$2,800 and supplementary card is HK$1,000.

If cancel within 14 months, there is admin fee of $300 but then, annual fee is waived for first 3 years. ^

This isn't so unusual - almost all banks in HK have credit cards where you can transfer points to Asia Miles.

But I think not all banks offer credit card points as welcome offer?

Anyway it's still a nice run for miles

This is proving to be a far better run for miles than I originally thought. Aside from the attractive welcome points that can be converted to Asia Miles, Fubon is having another promotion (http://www.fubonbank.com.hk/web/html/cc_ovisald01_e.html) that gives bonus points for every spend at or above HK$500. It lasts until 28 Feb 2010.

Administratively a bit of a hassle as one needs to call a phoneline to register EACH qualifying transaction, and the registration needs to be made within the stipulated month or so for the relevant transaction.

With the guaranteed minimum 2,000 bonus points awarded for each spend at or above HK$500, this means a HK$500 spend AT LEAST earns 208 AM (on weekdays = translates to $2.4 per AM) or 250 AM (on weekends = translates to $2 per AM). Easily one of the best miles accumulation rate for local spending! Of course, the accumulation rate improves if you're lucky enough to hit the 3,000 or 5,000 bonus points for your particular spend transaction. ^
