American Express Membership Rewards - Have I got this right, Amex - BA = double MR points.

Just received a "letter" from Amex promoting MR - BA miles.

If I transfer the minimum 1,000 MR points into BA miles by the 31st July, then Amex will give me double MR points on spending between 17th August - 17th November.

Seems like a no brainer or am I missing something ?

I'll just open a BA account and transfer the 1,000 minimum, I never fly with them but it's worth losing that amount to get the double MR on spending.

The OP's comment sounds like this 2x MR points on spend, not transfers, however--meaning that there is still some hope.
