Travel Technology - iphone 3gs not assembled as well as previous models

Has anyone else with a 3gs noticed differences in the outside feel of the phone? I don't mean materials. I mean the joints, the smoothness of the molded plastic, the buttons, etc?

I just traded my new 3g for a 3gs today (an even swap moneywise but. . .). I can't believe the difference between my two phones. The left side buttons are sharp and catch on pockets, the plastic back has burrs, the input jack and headphone openings are not smoothly finished, the joints are not smooth. I'm shocked as this is not the kind of thing I expect from Apple. My 3g was a model of a well-made product. Does anyone know if they've switched contracted assemblers?

I guess I'll see if there's a remedy but don't know what to expect and don't know whether to go back to AT&T store or local 3rd party Apple rep.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 3_0 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/528.18 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile/7A341 Safari/528.16)

I'd be willing to argue that the iPhone 1.0 boasted the best exterior build of the three. I'm not a big fan of the plastic case. If I could get the guts of the gs in the skin of my 1.0 I'd be happy.
