We have a wedding in Hobart in October and are taking a week around it. Travelling with a one year old so probably won't be travelling all that far. Maybe Freycinet, possibly Lake St Clair??
I usually try to stick with IHG as far as poss but they seem to have nothing over there (quite strange..) so am looking for tips and recs on other great places and deals whether booking direct or via booking engine.
thanks!
Check out this thread in CommunityBuzz (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/communitybuzz/706312-oz-fest-5-hobart-tasmania-memorial-day-weekend-may-23-25-2008-a.html) about OzFest 5, held in Hobart just over a year ago. It has a lot of suggestions for things to do there, with discussions pro and con about some of them and comments after the fact about what people enjoyed. You'll have to wade through hundreds of posts about folks coming or not coming to the Do, what flights they're on, what hotel they'll be at and so on, but the useful content will probably repay the effort. (The weather was on the chilly side in late May, but should be better in October.)
October is either cold, warm or tepid, depending on the wind and the rain.
Where is the wedding? Hobart or Launceston or somewhere else? If you tell me that I can give you an idea of whats around.

thanks for your answers.
the wedding is in hobart on the sunday, we arrive the previous weekend (also hobart) and leave on the monday.
now considering 2/3 days each in freycinet/lake st clair. is it worth staying at port arthur or just a drive?
Port Arthur is a long but interesting drive - seeing your other post re toddler, I've made some suggestions in there.
