we will be retuning to lax from a cruise and need business class one way tickets. advice needed on the most economical way of doing this. one traveler is in a wheelchair. thank you.

www.airnz.com.au - roughly A$8000 per person. One way fares to the US will always be expensive.

For just an extra few thousand you can book an entire RTW trip and include your SYD-LAX leg in that.... and you can have as long a break in LAX as you want (up to a year) before continuing on the rest of the trip.

Or if a round the world doesn't suit then a circle pacific is another option.

The only cheap way of flying confirmed business class from Australia (I assume you mean Sydney Australia not Sidney USA or Sydney Canada) is on an award - for that you'll need lots of miles.

Not sure when you're planning travel, as that may be a factor - but anything nonstop will cost that order of magnitude ($8K AUD) - and this includes Air NZ, who aren't non stop, but are reasonably direct with good connections.

The only inexpensive way is indirect flights - via Korea (for example $3.3K AUD on the very good Asiana, or $3.9K on Korean). But they add a lot of time if only going as far as the west coast (they are not too bad if heading to Chicago or New York).

Also, return fares may be cheaper than one way, Delta are offerning something for $6.4K return (compared to $7K one way).

Assuming you can find availability, you can use BMI miles (http://www.flybmi.com/bmi/src/html/diamondclubhowtospendmiles.html) to go one-way.

Zone 9 - Zone 11 (Hawaii) is 18750 + 127.5 GBP + taxes
Zone 9 - Zone 3 (USA) is 30000 + 202.5 GBP + taxes

Outside of Europe one stop-over is permitted.
