Travel Technology - Three (UK) roaming rates from July 1 2009

Several threads have mentioned Three for roaming. Three's 'Three Like Home' deal finishes today, as does their £3 per MB extortionate data rate to most roaming countries.

I'm mainly interested in mobile broadband roaming. From tomorrow, these rates apply for Three (UK) customers whether contract or pay-as-you-go:

- most Europe: £1.25 per MB [- Ireland: 10p per MB when roaming on 3 Ireland to Jan 31 2010]
- Australia, South Africa, USA and some others: £3 per MB
- ROW (including Canada): £6 per MB

Expensive though it may be, the £1.25/MB for most of Europe probably means I will use my Three dongle more than when it was £3/MB.

I do most of my travel between Ireland and UK and 3 Like Home was excellent value for roaming data between the two. I'll probably maintain separate 3UK and IRL sims now and make more use of wifi and tethering.

Three has an Irish Promo. I haven't looked at it very much, but you may want to see what it is about. Vodafone seems to have the best deal for roaming at the moment. You can get the SIMs for free all over the UK.

Do you happen to know the data roaming rate for Vodafone?
Their site for roaming rates doesn't work for me at the moment (it used to work OK) for whatever reason.

Their site for roaming rates doesn't work for me at the moment (it used to work OK) for whatever reason.Perhaps they are adjusting their rates too? Changes (mainly price reductions) are afoot because of EU regulation. I'm hoping that more operators will adjust their rates downwards.
