Hi

I am trying to work out the HKG airport - Macau transfer, which I am sure is fairly straight forward.

I arrive at 12.30pm which is just in time to miss the 13.00 ferry. The next on is at around 16.30. So some questions;

1. Do I transfer essentially airside, as reading the website I do not enter HKG island. If so what happens to my checked luggage
2. Can I use Wing/Pier if arriving as a QF Emerald in BA J, without an onward flight.
3. Can I use the arrivals lounge?

Any simple advice, most appreciated.

Thanks

This topic is discussed regularly in the Hong Kong forum, where it is on topic. See, for example, this thread (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/hong-kong/793850-hkg-airport-catching-ferry-macao-without-exitting-hkg.html).

1. Yes. For most airlines you baggage is checked through to Macau. Details here (http://www.hongkongairport.com/eng/transport/transport-connection-with-mainland-china/ferry-transfer/passengers-transiting-to-prd-ports.html).
2. No, The Wing/Pier are departure lounges.
3. No. The Arrival is landside and you can't go back airside for the purposes of taking the Macau ferry.

Note that it would be quicker to go landside and to the main Macau Ferry terminal in Central Hong Kong and get a ferry around 14:00-14:30 than to wait for the ferry at the airport unless there is some reason why entering HK is difficult for you. You would still not be able to use the CX Arrivals Lounge (open only to F, OW Emerald and CX Gold, and only if arriving on CX), but there is a pay-in arrivals lounge (http://www.plaza-ppl.com/hk_en/Arrival.php).
