Cathay Pacific Asia Miles - Cathay Pacific online check-in question.

Hi,
I am travelling CX from Sydney to Europe return, of course transiting through Hong Kong.
I am not sure how time will go for us on our return journey and I was thinking of using the online checking.
My flight is from London to Sydney. If I check in online, will it only allow me to check in for the LHR-HKG leg, or both legs?
Also one other question, I understand that CX offers in-flight electricity. What sort of plug is it? Will it fit the plug of any country, or is an adaptor required?

Im afraid to tell you......
No you cant.
You only can check-in exactly 48 hours prior to departure for EACH flight.
Thats was a same problem for me SIN-HKG-YVR
I thought i could check in for SIN-HKG and even YVR but i realised i could not.
I had to wake up 00:05 in the morning just to do the online check-in ......

Thanks Sealula,
But what if when I try to check-in, both flights are open for check-in?
Like if I check-in a couple of hours before flight departure? It is only a 24hr flight! (Us Aussies are used to these very, very long flights :))

Also one other question, I understand that CX offers in-flight electricity. What sort of plug is it? Will it fit the plug of any country, or is an adaptor required?I think it still depends on the specific aircraft type you are on. And whether it works depends on which class you are in. If 747 then 110V via a universal socket, but it only works in J & F I think. If 777-300ER then 110V via a universal socket in all classes. If A330/340 with old style J then it needs an adaptor and is only available in F, J & some of Y. If A330/340 with new-style J then 110V via universal socket in J. Not sure about Y.
At least that's what I think the situation is, but I am not 100% about any of that except 747 J/F and 777-300ER.

EmPower was working on all 3 flights in 74A F last week. I was able to charge my QC3s onboard. ^

I thought 74A F class have 110 AC power with no adapters required.

That is correct. No idea why kchika refers to it as "Empower". It's a 110V universal socket.

it's also called EmPower as far as I remember. or at least that's the logo shown on the power outlet at the seat.

It's clear to me now, what you said is based on an older aircraft which uses Empower, not AC power. Some brand new aircraft with Olympus seating have AC power. Read the post below.

What christep means by 'old style' and the 'needs an adaptor' part is that those are the old Empower still installed in a good amount of CX aircraft. They require a sort of adapter in order to charge/use your device.
no, I wasn't referring to the old type at all. I mean, the latest type which gives AC and requires no adapter is also called EmPower (or at least has the EmPower name/logo on the outlet). well, I could be mistaken, but that's what I remember right now...
so using the word "EmPower" could be misleading since many people thought this only refers to the old DC type requiring adapters.

Do you mean checking in at the counter(your first flight) for your both flights ?
I think you can , but it still have to be 48 hours before your 2nd flight departure time.

surely if you check in 48 hrs beforee both flights you will still be in Europe as it does not take more than 24 hrs to fly to HKG so you will be OK. Also I have in the past somehow been able to check in online before 48 hrs when picking up a transit flight at HKG when lfying to or from Europe. There has been loads of problems with the power on CX planes for the last 2 years and although they might claim to have fixed it, I would not bank on it working. A CX crew memeber told me this is the biggest complaint they get and that was only 4 weeks ago

That's exactly what I meant. Apologies for the confusion.
If you've got ASR is it still recommended to check-in as soon as the 48hr window opens?
