Hello everyone,

I've been browsing and reading these forums for a while, but I recently joined, merely because I have a question.
Last month I earned my first miles on FB, when flying out of AMS, and I was wondering when the people from FB would send the actual card? At BA, which I also fly eryone now and then, the BA Executive Club card fell at the doorstep only a few weeks after my first flight.

Kind regards,
Robert

I think it varies to be honest, I am registered through KL and I received my card 4 weeks after my first flight.

Welcome to FT.

Your card will be delivered between 3 and 12 weeks, depending on various factors of which you have no control over :)

You don't really need the card until you are higher than Ivory, so don't worry too much. Just put it into your phone, done. I have cards for most majors, but only carry the elite ones.

It's a random timing, once I received my gold card before the silver one. Patience :)

Haha, when you talk about patience, see this:

This past weekend I went BHX-AMS on Saturday and AMS-BHX on Sunday.

Miles for the first flight posted already on Sunday, but for the second one I am still waiting. The reason I am so anxious is that this flight should qualify me for FB Gold.

Do you think, it might be taking so long to post as it will also bring changes to my account? When I qualified for the FB Silver it was even wierder - my flight and miles posted but status remained FB Ivory for another couple of days.

Does anybody remember how long it took for the qualifying flight/miles to post?

Btw, Silver card is not here yet :)

Might be the same case like you, neuromancer...

I think I'm FB Gold and have been for a while, but I've never had a gold card. Not really missing it, since the April-Fools massacre of FB.

Did call up the local SYD office last year to ask about it, they said they'd send one within 6 weeks but didn't.

Printed off a copy using the FB "lost card" page (http://www.klm.com/travel/gb_en/flying_blue/programme/helpdesk/Lost_FB_card.htm) but it didn't get me into the CO lounge for a domestic flight. [Whereas, say, the BD Gold card will presumably provide CO domestic lounge access thru *A. Roll on October.]

Yes, I've been using the printed version as well of the silver one [although no lounge access with it, but some priority check-in and boarding].

Obviously, as I wrote here about it yesterday, now my miles have posted [although the account still shows silver - I presume it will change in a day or two].

Just an update:

requested 'replacement' gold card, and it has arrived today. The letter has a date of 7th August printed on it, but the postmark on the envelope is 21st - only 3 days from somewhere in France to somewhere in UK - very good [once they get around to do it].

As the original [gold nor silver] card never arrived, can anybody tell me what is supposed to be in 'welcome pack'?

nothing special in the welcome pack, a leaflet and gold luggage tags

It eventually made it's way to me - took less than 2 months :D

Has anyone experience with the Dutch Amex FB credit card and Elite cards?

I qualified for Silver a few months back and dutifully received the silver Amex card a few weeks later but no FB card yet.
So I call FB customer "service" and they tell me that Amex holders are not getting any FB cards sent out as the credit card serves as a FB card.

Has anyone ever experienced that before? Or are they just confused?

And if that is their normal procedure, it sucks: You wouldn't believe how often I find my credit card number on the hotel bill as the FB number when using the Amex card.
And last time I looked, the Amex card is not accepted by the blue robots...

They are right : holders of the Dutch FB Amex card do not receive a separate FB card. The Amex is a combi-card.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 3_1_2 like Mac OS X; de-de) AppleWebKit/528.18 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile/7D11 Safari/528.16)

Great. :-(

Do they stop sending out the luggage tags as well?

I actually have both, FB card and Amex card. Might have to do with that I signed up for amex around the time that I went silver.

Amex card arrived few weeks later indeed, FB card ...a month later?

Im curious about the luggage tags as well tho. I would like to have the gold ones for priority handling :)

I guess I'll just call them tomorrow and offer to cancel the Amex card if it that is needed for them to send over the cards.
Then I should know more.

I'm not sure what you want. The Amex card IS your Flying Blue card, so why should you cancel your Amex? Only for getting a separate card? Why did you apply for the Amex in the first place?

The luggage tags will be send separately - and this will take quite some time.

And, waiting for your FB-card will take a long long time.

I want the separate card because I find often my credit card number listed as the flying blue number on hotel bills etc. When going for the very, very quick checkout at the hotel I sometimes do not spot this and then have to get that fixed later via the phone.

Never had that problem with the separate FB card.

And why I got the Amex card? I needed a Dutch credit card for my bank account there and when I was walking to T2 in Schiphol the Amex guy jumped me...

Thanks, good to know.

You could always print a copy from your FB profile [request/print a copy]. I have done this as well, as I have put a copy in my passport holder [so I do not need to keep taking my AMEX out my wallet].

I didn't think it would be so easy to confuse a 15-digit AMEX number with a 10-digit Flying Blue number.

However, at the time you're making these hotel reservations, assuming you're doing it online, it might be easiest to just enter your Flying Blue number in the appropriate field. Or better yet, set it in your profile with the hotel chain(s)/travel agent(s) so that it's automatically carried over into your bookings.

If I am correct, after you have made 3 or 4 qualifying flights.
