Budget Travel - NYC Newark rent car help

I am looking for a rent car for Sep 5 - Sep 7 in Newark area.

It does not have to be an airport location.

EWR LGA or other area near West New York, NJ will work.

I checked website.

Payless at EWR starting from $107 (two days, tax is included)

LGA $150+

Priceline bidding for EWR (failed at $70 two days. recommended $37/day = $120+ two days including everything)

Priceline bidding for LGA (recommended $47/day = $150+ two days including everything)

Hotwire for EWR $100+
Hotwire for LGA $150+

Local rental at Iselin, NJ
Alamo $30 per day (read internet review. taxi from EWR to the location is over $50, train is $10+ per person) not an option

Payless $30 per day rental--- labro day weekends are blackout dates. (same for many rental coupons)

any suggestion? (for example, wait for the last minute for priceline?)

Are you flying in and out of the NYC area, or arriving some other way? If flying into EWR, the NJ Transit #62 bus will take you from the airport to Iselin for a little more than $3 per person.

For another forum, I just looked up a Budget in Orange, NJ that is about 4.5 miles from Newark Penn Station with average rates next month of $25 or so. That Budget location supposedly offers pick-up service within 5 miles if arranged in advance.
