Qatar Airways Privilege Club - Status Match with other Gulf carriers?

Hi all,

I was wondering if QR offers a status match with other carriers such as EY, EK or GF.

I am Gold with EK and was wondering if this would be possible?

My (Doha-based) company sent out an email to all of its employees informing them that as part of our new contract with Qatar Airways, we could receive a status match on QR if we provided them with a photocopy of an elite card on EK, BA, or any other airline servicing Doha from UK/USA/OZ. A few weeks later we received another email rescinding the offer. The excuse give to us was that Qatar Airways was saying that they had "run out" of status matches.

It could be that the few that were made available were used up by friends and family within our company -- I will never know. But to answer your question, YES - status matches DO EXIST. But in our case, the QR sales rep might not have been able to follow through on his promise. To understand why this might be, see previous threads written about QR ground staff :p ;)

Guys, I want to status match my EK gold. Would anyone be able to help? Skywards has just downgraded its self!
