Budget Travel - GVA to LGW - possible to clear immigration and catch a train in under an hour?

Hi!

I'm brand new to this forum and have searched through the previous posts looking for an answer to this question but couldn't find one. What I did find however was how helpful and informed you posters tend to be, so any help from you all would be much appreciated! :)

I am picking up a friend from London Gatwick on Friday 10th July, landing at 3.35pm Easyjet flight 8473 from Geneva. This is in the north terminal.

He has no checked in baggage so will not have to wait at baggage reclaim.

We would ideally like to get the 4.38pm (at the latest) Southern railway train to London Victoria (to make it in time for a show in London).

Does anyone have any idea if catching the 4.38 train is doable or am I being really optimistic about how quickly he'll be able to clear immigration?

Any advise on how long immigration usually takes at this time/how long the walk is from the North Terminal to Gatwick Airport station would be so extremely helpful!

Basically I am a broke student and would prefer not to book theatre tickets in advance if there is no way I'll be able to make the show in time.

If the flight is on time it should be ok. I have made it from gate to train in probably as little as 30 minutes.
