Korean Air Skypass - baggage question/help
my family and i are going to the philippines for a wedding next month. we're taking korean air from jfk to manila via icn. my mom has like 2 gowns she's bringing to the philippines but she doesnt wanna put in the big suitcase with the rest of her clothes for fear of it getting wrinkled and such. she's suggesting we put her dress in one of those traveling cases/bags made for dresses. but i said we might have to check that in at an additional price. is that the most likely scenerio??? same thing with my dad and brother..both are bringing suites but dont want to put in the suitcase or any of the boxes we're bringing. hope someone can help me out. we're also going to call the airline but it would be nice to get some feedback here as well. thanks in advance!! :)
we're taking KE82 to icnoperated by KE's new 77W :D
edit: another problem has surfaced.... my mom is a nurse here in the states and will be participating in a medical mission in the philippines so she is bringing syringe needles which is a problem. how would we bring those on the plane? would they allow us to check those in??

Can't help you with the first question but syringes are a non issue in air travel. You can check them or you can bring them in your carry-on. There are plenty of people who have no choice but to carry syringes with them when they travel. TSA, foreign airport security and airlines see them all the time.
she can always get one of those garment bags for her gowns. i think you can ask if u could take it with you in the cabin as hand carry since its delicate. but you might wanna call the airline to be sure.
Thanks for the replies. I just called up the Korean Air office at JFK. The rep explained how we would need to check-in early to get things settled & flight attendants would figure where to put/hang the dresses and suits.
Don't they have closets in first class or business??
Now our only problem is keeping our checked luggages exactly/below 50Ibs. Anyone know if KE is strict? Cause I heard they don't really care if you're over like 1-3Ibs. But I'm not taking any chances.

Kamusta po? ;)
Thanks for starting this topic because my mom was having a headache about her dress too! We are also taking Korean Air to the Philippines for a wedding. She called up Korean Air at their JFK office and they said the same thing to you basically...the attendants will assist you with the dress. They will either hang it if there's room or put it up in the overhead bin where it will most likely be folded and end up wrinkled, which we're hoping we don't have to do *crosses fingers* And the dress will be considered her one and only hand carry.
Not sure where they hang it but most likely the closets at first class. Or maybe they just lay out in the seats? Not really sure. Anyone know?
