Do any of you have tips for Asia Miles? transfer them to my account:D:D:D:D:D:D well, oneworld award is your friend for long haul.(esp to europe) i managed to find a way from london return to HK, spend less miles, and throw in a stop in japan, and have a few more stops mid way. And did you say the most value? get the one stop to japan! Now, transfer the savings of your trip to my account! So, LHR(-AMS)-HKG-xTPE-KIX-NRT(-AMS)-LHR all for 115000 miles in J and 155000 in F. Instead of (say) LHR-HKG-FUK-xHKG-LHRfor 120000 or 180000 for AMawards, and you also have to stress about HKG-FUK-HKG having no F. so.... :)this way you only have to worry about it on 1 way. I suppose it works the same to the US. JL+AA award, and the J award gets you into domestic F in AA HKG-NRT-JFK-BOS-ORD-YYZ-HKG HKG-NRT-JFK-YUL-JFK-YYZ-HKG Here you save ~30000 for F award and 10000 for J award CX100Silver Jun 26, 09, 7:37 pm Best way to "BURN" Asia Miles... Sounds like you have accumulated so many miles... How about... ASIA MILES DONATIONS!!! :-) Haha... As I've said, donating to me is widely appretiated.esp when i've helped you save up miles from getting oneworld awards tedhl Jun 26, 09, 8:42 pm I suppose it works the same to the US. I must be imagining things..... dudeofswim Jun 26, 09, 11:13 pm If you play golf: the $100 GC's are great. How about a free trip for someones Bday? an upgrade for you or a friend. Psychiatrist Jun 27, 09, 1:47 pm i absolutely agree with kaka. when you consider HKG-JFK being 145,000 in J, look what i got for 160,000 in J : HK-London-Miami-Lima-NYC-Tokyo-HK ! do some planning, and put in as much as you can. good luck! brace!brace! Jun 27, 09, 5:26 pm Thanks all. I will look into the One World award as an alternative. IIRC, a J class long haul redemption on JL or BA requires less miles than a CX redemption? Also, Kaka and Psychiatrist, is there a page that calculates ITs like you mentioned or do I just stick it out with an Asia Miles agent? kaka Jun 27, 09, 7:17 pm Thanks all. Also, Kaka and Psychiatrist, is there a page that calculates ITs like you mentioned or do I just stick it out with an Asia Miles agent? Usually I use Great Circle Mapper for planning and double check with the AM website (you might need a few "trips" on AM as they only have up to 4-5 sectors each time you can check.) Then I call AM to see if i can get those seats on teh days, and for rules sake:) MKE-MR Jun 28, 09, 11:01 pm "J award gets you into domestic F" - is this a feature of the oneworld award ? because, I always thought that with Asia Miles, with J awards you can only get into J on AA, if there's no J on 2-class flight, you'll only get Y...they do consider domestic F as F... Wow, that's...lame. Have they ever been in US domestic F? It is substantially below three-class J seats, let alone international F. That would throw CX right out for redemptions to the US, for me, since I'd be making domestic connections to nearly anywhere I'd go. (Also, are you positive on this? I know that using AA miles, a J award gets domestic F. I guess CX saves money on these redemptions.) tedhl Jun 29, 09, 12:21 am well, you know how all these rules could have changed without us being informed...so, I was positive about this maybe 2-3 years ago when I or my friend redeemed such an award, Asia Miles award in J got you in Y only for AA 2-class plane, if I remember correctly. but frankly I'm not sure if it's still the current rule - but if I were to guess I'd say yes... cxfan1960 Jun 29, 09, 2:11 am IIRC, AA domestic F is treated as F for both accrual and redemption as far as Asia Miles is concerned. Psychiatrist Jul 1, 09, 11:59 am (Also, are you positive on this? I know that using AA miles, a J award gets domestic F. I guess CX saves money on these redemptions.) Very very positive. Just did it in April. My flight from Lima to JFK was via Miami (couldn't get the direct flight). I flew J from Lima to Miami, and then Y from Miami to JFK. When I booked the flight I said that J award gets me domestic F. The MPO hotline person told me that it's domestic Y. I argued that it's domestic F if I use AA miles. He said that's absolutely right. Asia Miles only gets you domestic Y. Thanks Also, Kaka and Psychiatrist, is there a page that calculates ITs like you mentioned or do I just stick it out with an Asia Miles agent? I'm pretty obsessive with these things ... so I open an Excel spreadsheet and do all the calculations. I use the "earn miles" calculator in the Asia Miles website to calculate the distance between each city, then add it up myself. You can also go to the AA website to check their award availability - you don't need to sign up for anything to use that service. Having said all this, I just booked a trip with 190,000 miles in J, for March 2010! It's a South American trip again - HKG-JFK-Santiago-Easter Island-Santiago-JFK-NRT, then open jaw to NGO-HKG! All in J! I was really happy about the Easter Island leg ... saved me lots of $. I'll be going to Patagonia as well, but they didn't have any award seats for Santiago-Punta Arenas. kaka Jul 1, 09, 2:13 pm Very very positive. Just did it in April.
