Hilton HHonors - Doubletree Courthouse London - 2 for 1 - Questions

I just booked a four-day weekend in London for my husband and me at the Doubletree Courthouse, after having read through a ton of the London threads here and it sounded like this was a great location and decent hotel.
We got the 2-for-1 for GBP 108 per night for a King room (could have had a Queen-bed room for 95.50 as well) which I thought was quite good.
The 2-for-1 includes breakfast each day plus late check-out (6 pm).
I'm Hilton Gold, so just wondered what I should select as the MyWay benefit at this property. We already get breakfast so is asking for an upgrade worth it? I could have gambled and booked the Queen room, hoping for an upgrade to King, but didn't want to take a chance as we want a king-size bed.
What is the internet access like at this property, and is their normally a fee? On the hotel's webpage describing the accomodations, it states "Catch up on work at the large desk with wireless internet access." Does this mean free wireless, or does it just mean wireless available for a fee?
Lastly, my confirmation email says that check-out is at 12 pm, but the 2-for-1 offer page refers to a 6 pm late check-out based on availability. As our flight doesn't leave London until 8 pm, it would be nice to have the room at least until 4-5 pm, if not 6 pm. Any experiences with late check-out at this property?
Thanks in advance,
Susan

Internet access is not free at the Doubletree. I don't recall exactly what they were charging as we didn't use it during our recent stay, but I believe it was around 12.95 GBP per day.
I suggest asking for a room that does not front Great Marlborough St. as it is noisy.

I'v got a recent stay at this hotel during may (1 night). Very very good location to walk around for all main place to visit in london (soho, theater area, shopping streets, trafalgar square, and within a bit longer but pleasant walk acces to the Palace area. Use bus 15 for acces to St Paul and Tower of London (25 minutes).
Don't need to get an "upgrade" except to magistrat suite". We got one and it's really a large room but not so nice when you stay inside. Regular rooms are small. Try to use the swimming pool. it's on the basement, small but charming. Take care, you must reserve you acces before to try it. Breakfast is in a too small room and too cold. Often, you have to wait long minutes for a table.
Minus point : No executive lounge. A staff who need to be seriously more pro except the management. During night no housekeeping after 10 pm. If you need special in room amenities take them before this deadline ...

Since we've booked a standard king room (32 sq m), I assume an upgrade would be to the large king room (40 sq m). I'll ask my husband if he plans to take a netbook and wants internet access and probably go for that, otherwise if we agree to leave computers home for the weekend, I'll ask for the upgrade.
By "too cold" of a room, do you mean chilly temperature, or cold decor? It will be August, so hopefully we won't be chilled sitting eating breakfast.
Does anyone have any experience requesting and receiving late check out? It is supposed to be a perk of the 2-for-1, and we really want it, but my confirmation says check-out is noon? I assume if nothing else, they will hold our carry-ons for the day until we depart of the airport?

Susan,
Don't know which day you are checking out, but the late check-out policy only applies on a Saturday or Sunday. The terms and conditions on the UK Hilton website state: "Late checkout till 6pm is applicable for Minibreak checkouts on a Saturday or Sunday only." I have had these offers previously at other hotels and checked out on a Sunday and managed to get late check-outs. They sometimes don't want to give them, but when reminded of the offer details, they reluctantly agree. I think the confirmations always state the standard check-out time for the hotel.

That could be a problem then. We're checking in on a Thursday for four nights, checking out on Monday.
I guess all I can do is ask politely, and maybe get at least a couple of extra hours. Hopefully, they would hold our luggage so we can spend the day out, and collect our bags when it's time to go to Heathrow for our 8 pm flight.
Thanks,
Susan

By cool i mean chilly... certainly regarding the fact that it's smell too much "omelette" in this little breakfast room.
But above all that lot of "importants details" it' really a nice place to stay "inside" london.

There is no need to be rude. I didn't say that it could be a problem for them to hold the bags. When cjd stated that the late check-out was only offered for Sat-Sun, I commented that our being granted late check-out could, therefore, "be a problem" since we were checking out on Monday.
It is not *only* leaving our bags at the hotel that is nice with late check-out. With a late evening flight, it could have been nice to spend the day out in London, and still come back to the hotel for a quick shower and change of clothes before departure.
If that fails, then at the very least, we'd leave our bags for the day. But that is not the ideal or desired option.
