Taking the family to Bangkok for Christmas.

Just received a whole lot of rebookings / retimings for the Bangkok flights.

Looked up and now the flight that goes SIN - BKK - NRT has been taken out of the schedule. Not sure from when, but it isn't there in December / January.

SQ978 has been rescheduled from 18:15 to 18:35 and is now the last flight of the day.

On my return I am flying HKT-BKK-SIN-MEL and the HKT-BKK flight arrives at 11:20 and the flight SQ rescheduled me on BKK-SIN was 13:40, but that flight has been cancelled, so they booked me on a flight that goes 11:15 from BKK. Way to go SQ - and this is all on one ticket, not two tickets.

In trouble with my parents flight they were booked on the SQ632 which has been cancelled. Looking up their booking, rather than put them on the 18:35 flight, they have moved them to a flight the following day. Looks like a long day on the phone tomorrow to get this all sorted out.

SQ632 is that the flight that leaves SIN at 8:30pm?? I hope this cancellation is not as of immediate but only in December.

I predict that the next route to start getting cut will be CGK, which has been a cash cow for SQ for years due to the only competition being Garuda. Air Asia, which just started flying CGK-SIN is already, after a few months, increasing service to 4X daily. The approach of SQ present Management is to cut and run or turn routes over to Silkair if their margins have to suffer, so expect to see CGK getting cut soon.

At this rate, within a few years, SQ will be flying only Australia-Singapore-Europe/US?

Not even that if Air Asia X has its way :p

Even better for the present SQ Management. They would then be able to cut all flights and so have no costs. But the margins would theoretically look superb based on published fares!! It's a winning strategy.

Not until the management decided to cut themselves to get the cost down to none. The more we discuss, the more I think the SQ management is on vacation... Not that we should worry anyway, since they somehow are still making a profit.
