Australia, New Zealand & the South Pacific - A day in WellingtonView Full Version : A day in Wellington ramfunes Jun 25, 09, 2:30 am Will spend a whole day in Wellington with no plans in a couple of weeks on a Saturday, leaving Sunday morning. Any good advice about what to see and do? Thanks Kiwi Flyer Jun 25, 09, 3:03 am If the weather is horrible head for Te Papa. Otherwise take cable car (or walk) up the hill to the botanic gardens. bseller Jun 25, 09, 4:28 am In nice weather, after returning from the Gardens ;), take a nice stroll out along the Oriental Parade to get a good overview of the city and the waterfront. Dave splatnz Jun 26, 09, 9:48 pm Rent a car for the day (or 1/2 a day) and go for a drive around the coast (from the city through Oriental Bay and round past the airport - some great spots to take pics. If you keep going round for long enough you end up at the bottom end of Wellington (Owhiro Bay) from there drive up back to the city stopping at the wind turbine (view is good on a nice day). If it's wet then definitely Te Papa! flyingsaucer Jun 26, 09, 11:20 pm Te Papa (wet or not!), and if not wet it's also a nice trip on the ferry to Picton where a boat tour around Queen Charlotte Sound is historically interesting and very beautiful. vecta Jun 28, 09, 2:46 am +3 for Te Papa in all weather conditions. ramfunes Jun 28, 09, 5:58 am +3 for Te Papa in all weather conditions.
