Russia - Aeroflot online check-in

Currently available for departure from SVO (except flights to the States and India,) but it's better than nothing:

I used the feature when flying to CAI. I printed my boarding pass at home and (incredibly) they stamped that paper /during a security check/!!! [in Russia they usually reauire a document /ie geniune boarding pass/ to be stamped].

I've already used this feature twice (SVO-ARN and SVO-FRA). It's available 24 hours before the flight yet even when I OLCI'd 17 hours out, I still got sequence number 1 ^ You can't pick an exit row seat this way, though...

By the way as SU Gold I usually get something like SEQ1 on my boarding passes when flying SkyTeam even if checking in late. What if someone already checked in under this number (which should definitely be the case unless they reserve some SEQ numbers for elite passengers)? Will there be any changes to his/ her boarding pass?

This may not apply to a lot of people, but I thought I would share anyways.

I booked an award ticket on NW; 2 of the 7 segments were on SU.
I made a number of changes to the ticket, which included changing the SU flights.

I was unable to check-in for an SVO-AMS flight online. On both segments, I was unable to check-in at the airport by simply going up to the desk. They told me that because I had made a change to the PNR, I had to go to the ticketing desk (which in SVO was some distance away from check-in) and get them to do something (re-validation, printing out something, I really don't remember what). This was rather time-consuming.

Anyhow, if you have made any changes to a PNR (at least on a NW award ticket, but potentially in other situations), allow extra time at the airport to sort this out.

Recently I changed both a destination and flight dates for my SU reward ticket, but was able to check in online. Even invitations to DATE lounge are printable online.

Anyone know if it will work for Aeroflot-Don and Aeroflot-Nord flights?

It will only work with SU-numbered flts but I can't see why it wouldn't on a codeshare.

Yep. Done that on multiple occasions with no problem whatsoever. Still, why would you want to go to this dodgy Lounge when they've got several decent pubs. I fancy one in the first floor with the Heineiken ad outside. They have power sockets, smoking area and draft beer (bit pricey though - pint of Newcastle is £8).

Couple of weeks ago it didn't work for a flight booked on Aeroflot.com on Aeroflot-Nord metal (SVO-OVB). Also, kiosk check-in and seat assignment at time of booking did not work for the Aeroflot-Nord segment.

Wanted to get an exit row seat, politely asked at check-in, agent shook her head disapprovingly, but gave me the seat :)

Was your flight booked under a SU number? If so, what did the OLCI interface do? Time out on you? Tell you to go and talk to a human being at SVO?

Yes, my flight was booked under a SU flight number. OLCI gave me some apology and told me to go to a check in desk (don't remember exactly but it didn't appear to be an IT error message). I did have a connecting flight before the Aeroflot-Nord (5N) segment, maybe that was the reason.

But my guess is that 5N's systems are not properly linked up to mainline ... back in May I needed to convert my SU e-ticket into a paper ticket because 5N was part of the itin ...

Crapped out on D9 as well. Seems only SU flights will work.

Too bad. Have another 5N flight coming up in October, love those exit rows on their 737-500. Well, likely those wouldn't be accessible anyway for online check-in. Will try nonetheless :rolleyes:

Strangely, the self-checkin kiosk worked just fine when I put in the code-share number. Weird that it would work with the kiosk but not online.

Aeroflot online check-in is now available to passengers flying with Aeroflot from Beijing, Yerevan, Tokyo, Dubai and Shanghai.
Aeroflot has announced it is to shortly introduce online check-in on some of their domestic routes. These will include flights departing from Anapa, Krasnoyarsk, Samara, Omsk, Nizhnevartovsk and Mineralny Vody.

SU really does treat 5N like a red headed step child. It's like they can't make up their mind if they really wanna jump in bed (sorry) with them or not. I make it a point to stay off of 5N for this reason. It's just too unpredictable.

This is a free option to all passengers regardless of their class of travel. Seats can be pre-booked either at their web-site or through the agent at their call centre. Prebooked seats can only be changed at check-in or by calling SU call centre in Moscow.

Be sure to avoid row 4 on the left in 332 to avoid disappointment. These seats are used by the crew and any reservation of those will most likely be honored and you will have to sit somewhere else. By some reason the seats are not usually blocked.

The link is at the very bottom of the resevation page on Aeroflot site (not on Virtuallythere). It is only available if your seats have not already been preselected by you or your agent.
Yeah, you also need to be SU Bonus member and have your membership number on PNR to be able to go to the paid booking and select seat.
If this is not the case,
(1) enroll in the program
(2) leave a message on this board (http://www.aeroflot.ru/board/viewforum.php?f=60&sid=2f5b2f56f6b7c0e3afccf8e27afb4b73) requesting to add your SU number to your reservation
(3) Once SU rep confirmed this has been done - login at this page (https://booking.aeroflot.ru/meridia?posid=80U7)
(4) Go to My Reservations, select one you would like to preselect seats on
(5) select your seats

OR

(1) Call SU on +7 (495) 223-5555 (in the US dial 011-7-495-223-5555) and ask them to prebook you a seat you want.
