I heard Hawaiian Air was buying winglets for their 767's a long time ago? I wonder when they are going to install those? I think they will look good on their planes. I saw that AA now has the winglets on a couple of their 767's. It seems all the airlines are doing this nowadays. Also when is Hawaiian getting their new Airbuses? I saw that they were buying some Airbuses awhile ago. I wonder if they will expand their routes? Wonder what route they will start using the Airbuses on? Maybe Sydney? Does anyone know if they will start flying to midwest or east coast?

To build on FlyinHawaiian's mention of the Wikipedia entry, HA's 2008 annual report breaks down the Airbus deliveries accordingly (of course there could be more orders announced in the future):
2010 - 2x A330-200
2011 - 1x A330-200
2012 - 2x A330-200
2013 - 3x A330-200
2014 - 1x A330-200
2017 - 2x A350XWB-800
2018 - 2x A350XWB-800
2019 - 1x A350XWB-800
2020 - 1x A350XWB-800
This press release indicates that the 2 2010 A330-200 deliveries will come in the second quarter of 2010. So we'll start seeing Pualani on an Airbus tail sometime in April-June of next year.

As to the routes the Airbus' will fly, some HA employees who post on another aviation site indicated that HA plans to fly the new aircraft predominately on the Hawaii-mainland routes for the first 18 months or so. This is so to maximize the number of flights per day, stay close to maintenance bases and speed up crew training since it is a new aircraft type. As such, I would expect to see lots of Airbus flying initially on the HNL-LAX, HNL-LAS, HNL/OGG-PDX and HNL/OGG-SEA routes due to these route's existing frequencies.

I've been toying around with a J class Mainland-HNL-SYD vacation for a while now. QF wants way too much for J, and the 767 product on HA isn't much to write home about. I'm hoping these end up on HNL-SYD sooner rather than later.

Just wondering...is J class going to improve with the introduction of new aircraft? HA could improve J on its current 767 fleet if it wanted to...
Haven't J fares come down with the increased competition to SYD from LAX?

Is that 9x Airbus A330-200 will expecting to be deliveries sometimes in 2010 through 2014 timelines. So I think HA need to beef up more frequencies service for HNL-PHX to become 2nd daily roundtrip. I heard the loaded for PHX-HNL are very successful routes to get more profitable out of PHX. HA could be more connection opportunity in HNL.
I think A350 will expect to be deliveries sometimes in year of 2017 through 2020. What about A350-800 will expect to get more potential new routes out of HNL-LHR/BKK/SIN/FRA. It will have to bring more capacity growth out of HNL hub. It could be done extremely performing very well out of HNL is more opportunities.
What about HA need orders newest A350-900R will bring more ultra long haul flight out of HNL. IT will try to get future more exercise orders A350-900XWB. I think it would be perfect size to bring more demand out of HNL-HKG/PEK/PVG and few others specific routes will be choose. It will try to get more weight restrictions due to headwinds over TPAC flight out of HNL hub.

Just wondering...is J class going to improve with the introduction of new aircraft?
It should. Food wise, I think things will remain the same. Entertainment will be greatly improved due to HA's decision to introduce the Panasonic eX2 AVOD IFE system in the A330 in all classes of service^
I don't think HA has indicated whether J class seating will be lie-flat or recliner style. But given that the aircraft will be flying domestic and international routes and the nature of HA's customers, I believe HA will go with recliner style seating.
To me, the seating type doesn't bother me much. The upcoming eX2 AVOD is enough to make me drool. :)

Saw one in the air with winglets. Not sure what it is about winglets, but they always put a little more sleek into a plane.
