Hi everyone!

I've spent the last hour searching and I've read many Sydney NYE threads. Most are centering around what to do on NYE, or about hotels already booked (usually with points).

I am looking for apartment rentals, B&B, or some alternative to a hotel for NYE. I could stay in Sydney for the month, or a few weeks before and after NYE if this can help bring overall cost per night down.

Not looking to be pampered in an expensive hotel, but I would like to be reasonably close to the harbour (30 min walk max?)

Sydney will be expensive for NYE, I know that. But I'm wondering if anyone has any tips to make it a better value.

Thanks!

Reasonable, hmm. Have you considered a home exchange?

Unfortunately I have no home to exchange!

A budget will really help here. How much do you want to spend. NYE places tend to make you buy around a week's worth of accomodation, so there wouldn't be a need to spend an entire month here. The problem with NYE is that if you build your itineary around that you will end up in a budget place for your entire stay. I would treat NYE as seperate to the rest of your stay.

I have stayed here in the past to visit friends in McMahon's Point:

While v. basic, it's certainly cheap. It's not a noisy pub. And you can't get much closer to the harbour.
