Neither of which are incredibly helpful as a person based out of EWR/ NYC with an interest in flying to Western Europe :-( crhptic Jun 22, 09, 5:17 pm Neither of which are incredibly helpful as a person based out of EWR/ NYC with an interest in flying to Western Europe :-( Couple of thoughts: 1. You could trade the Frontier/Southwest miles for something more useful to you. You're almost at the threshold of qualifying for Coupon Connection. 2. I did a search and found this thread (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/milesbuzz/546835-any-way-earn-miles-balance-transfer.html), which gave me a better idea: pick the mile-earning card of your choice, use it to buy dollars from the mint (see this thread (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/milesbuzz/833911-buy-presidential-dollar-coins-cc-face-value-free-shipping.html)) with no credit card fee and no surcharge, take those dollars to the bank and use them to pay off the card you want to do a balance transfer from. The main downside is that the amount you can do here may be limited. A little more work, yes, but all good things involve some work! biggestbopper Jun 22, 09, 6:59 pm EXTREME caution is required when attempting to get miles with balance transfers since there are several ways hefty fees are hidden in various offers. For example: a cash advance charge of 3-5% may be applied, hidden in very tiny print, or, perhaps, not even revealed in the offer. IMHO, the balance transfer thing is no longer such a good idea. @:-) I don't do it and maybe you shouldn't either. Now, coins from the Mint. I love that. :D |
