Hertz - $30 off one day weekend rental, was I just lucky?

I had a Prius reserved for one-day (Sat. to Sun.) for $40, using the Delta weekend coupon (CDP 165385 & PC #129765). As I went to check-in, no Prius was available. I didn't fuss at all when she told me a Prius wasn't available, and accepted the Mustang that was offered. However, it was a nice surprise when she told me my total was going to be $16 with taxes.

The promo coupon was itemized at $30, while the terms if I read them correctly was $10 off per day. Did the agent cut me a deal (besides offering the Mustang) since I didn't get my reserved car or was this just a lucky glitch?

I did see someone in the last Prius on the lot drive off as I was walking to my car, but I don't know if they reserved it specifically or if that was supposed to be my car.

You probably got lucky. In a situation where you are not getting what you reserved, the first step is to try to upgrade you to something you want, then upgrade you and give you a certificate for a future rental, and third is take off money off that rental.

Thanks, good to know for the future. I believe the Mustang was the best I could have gotten, because the lot was virtually empty. I think I saw one other Mustang, a couple SUVs (one being a Highlander), and a Kia sedan.
