I bought an I class round-trip JFK-HKG-MNL-HKG-JFK. I upgraded all segments to first except HKG-MNL which did not offer a first class. This was done with 105,000 Asia Miles.
A few weeks prior to travel, I noticed they were using a three class aircraft HKG-MNL so I called and paid USD 40 for Asia Miles to reissue the ticket to include the upgrade on the HKG-MNL sector.
I've flown JFK-HKG and I got my boarding pass HKG-MNL as I'm spending about 23 hours in HKG.
I just noticed the flight tomorrow HKG-MNL is downgraded to a two class A330.
I have my first class boarding pass already.
Do I just stop at the desk to get a business class boarding pass?
I know I'm not officially due any miles back as I upgraded three of the four sectors.
However, I recall an incident a couple of years ago on a completely free first award ticket where my HKG-TPE was downgraded from F to J due to an equipment change and they gave me in cash the difference in fare plus some compensation all on their own doing.
Do they still do something like that?
