Does anyone know if it is possible to make an FHR booking using Membership Rewards Points? I've checked all over the MR and FHR sites, as well as here, and can't find the answer.

Why not just call? stevenshev Jun 21, 09, 10:23 am I believe you can, but what an ENORMOUS waste of points. infoguy Jun 21, 09, 10:43 am Normally I would agree that PwP is an enormous waste, but if you want to stay in a 5* hotel in Paris this summer, the rates are low enough that it's not a bad option. Anyone know for sure? mschles Jun 21, 09, 10:47 am I believe you can, but what an ENORMOUS waste of points. While I completely agree, it's somewhat relative. There are plenty of people here who put well above seven figures on these cards each year. If you don't travel heavily, your can redeem your MR for GCs at 1%. Even worse if you cash them in for Amex GCs. Paying with points gives the same 1%. Again, something I wouldn't do personally, but some people here have a large, endless stream of points with limited redemption opportunities. stevenshev Jun 21, 09, 5:34 pm Normally I would agree that PwP is an enormous waste, but if you want to stay in a 5* hotel in Paris this summer, the rates are low enough that it's not a bad option. Anyone know for sure? It's still a bad option. And, yes, as I said in my PM, you can definitely do it, so long as you book through PTS/CTS, but that goes without saying, anyway, on an FHR booking. I do have an idea for you, however, if you care to respond to my PM. infoguy Jun 22, 09, 2:06 pm After calls to both PTS and MR, it has been confirmed that this cannot be done. stevenshev Jun 22, 09, 2:26 pm  to the morons who told you that. CTS has informed me, on numerous occasions, that how it works is that they book the stay for you - you charge it to your card - and then you call and get it applied. Because you booked through CTS/PTS, they honor the 1c (as opposed to 2c) rate. b8b Jun 24, 09, 7:31 pm  to the morons who told you that. I'm not familiar with the 2c rate, may I ask you to enlighten me? divemistressofthedark Jul 2, 09, 11:56 am +1 on "can't imagine this wouldn't work." Call back until you get a more clueful CSA - if all else fails, Exec Liaison is 1 (800) 297-6197. |
