I've booked an F award with AA miles that includes 4 segments in CX F (YYZ-HKG-MNL-HKG-LHR) for myself and mrs. gleff. I should get to try the new F on both the 777 and 747.
Here's the question: looking at the cabin it doesn't appear as though there are really seats that 'work' for a couple traveling together. And I did search, but are there ideal seats for a couple on either/both aircraft?
I do know about dining together, and that should be neat. But any possibility of leaning over and talking to each other, just saying hi easily during the flight without getting up? :)
If search has just failed me, I'm happy to be pointed to the correct thread... and any pointers to photos that best showcase the cabin or relevant seats are of course appreciated as well, so that I can allay mrs. gleff's fears! :)
I guess on re-reading I missed (A) Olympus product
74A
1A, 1K
Most private (least foot traffic). Probably the best seats for couples as there are no paired seats in the 74A cabin.
So 1A, 1K it is. Not paired. Presumably a divider on the seats as well. Can these be lowered?
I'm not sure I understand:
77A
1A, 1K, 2A and 2K are essentially the same seat. Similarly 1D and 2D are similar to each other.
Are there any preferable for 2 ppl together? (Sorry to be dense)

They are suites, new or old.
The new one would allow you to kind of sit together tho, if space allows, using the ottoman (wait... why would the space not allow?:p)

I think what it means is that there is no difference, in terms of the seats themselves, whether you are on the right or left hand side of the plane, and there is no difference (again, in terms of the seats themselves) being in the first or second row. Unlike in a 74A where 2K has more space around it than 1K.
There are no dividers between the seats that can be lowered.

Firstly, i personally would like to say, before joining FT i was a passive reader, and WHAT really annoyed me, was how people just point to the thread about FAQ's.
If another member such as gleff, who obviously knows what he is doing on these boards, takes the time to write a specific and understandable list of questions, in regards to flying on CX, if you cant be bothered to help, dont write anything. i just feel it is very rude, and we are not here to treat people like morons. We need to show more respect and patience.
I read the BA board as well, and from my position, they are a lot more helpful and understanding to fellow members.
Gleff from my experience on 74A and 77A, each is a seperate " SUITE", 9 on 74A, 6 on 77A. No dividing walls.. All very private without having closing doors.
74A - Only 1A and K, and possibly 4A and D can be remotely considered best for couples.
4A and D open up on the same side, with the wall on 4D making 4K completely isoloated.
77A - Both 1D,2D open on the same side as 1K,2K so this is your only option.
They are very private, but you will be able to lean forward and "talk" to each other during the time on board.
It is one of the top F products out there..
Enjoy..

Firstly, i personally would like to say, before joining FT i was a passive reader, and WHAT really annoyed me, was how people just point to the thread about FAQ's. Don't you think it is an awful lot more efficient to point the OP to that than typing the content out again in a different way? And by the way, gleff benefitted from reading the FAQ again, in case you missed that.
It is because of gleff's apparent experience on these boards (almost 20,000 posts! Probably started flying before I was born!) I feel it is more appropiate to be direct rather than responding with a lot of... fluff.
The rest of this sentence is just to add a few more words making this response seemingly more worthwhile. :D

Thanks, cxlondon. looks like it's 1A/K on the 74A and 1D/1K on the 77A for me! :)
And folks, I appreciate both the helpfulness and being directed to the FAQ (I did miss the relevant part, and then I narrowed my question).
I don't mean to drive any divisiveness here.... ;)

I am suprised you missed the information and a search shows loads of information on this question that seems to get asked every week. If you do a google images search on cx first class there is a lot of pictures on there as well

1A/1K are "closest" together on the 74A, but your other option would be something like 2A/3A or 2K/3K. Even in 1A/1K you'd both have to lean forward to talk to each other. I liked the row 2/3 seats because they feel more open. If you want to spend some time together, you can use the ottoman, but it's honestly that that comfortable, and kind of cramped. Since the galley is behind row 4, the further you get from there, the less traffic there is. Avoid 4D as it has noticeably less space than the other suites on the 74A.
On the 77A, the other option is 1A/2A. You'd pretty much have that side of the plane to yourself, which may be appealing.
If you're really lucky, you'll get the whole cabin to yourself...
