I transferred SPG points to both my sisters Delta and NW. We have the same last name, but does full name have to match for transfer to complete. Awaiting transfer completion for 3 days so far.

Awaiting transfer completion for 3 days so far. Just my humble opinion here, but I think you will be waiting much longer because unless I miss my guess, the airline is going to reject both of these transfers. They have to be to a frequent flyer account in your name and it must match the SPG account version as well. Best regards, William R. You had better get some other partners for her because you are SOL. anbhc Jun 19, 09, 9:26 pm Thank- at some points the SPG points will reappear in my account when the transfer fails, correct? or do I have to email SPG to request points be reinstated in my account? Once they come back, ask her to create a SPG account and then transfer the Starwood points to her first. As long as you have the same address, it should be OK. SPG transfers between accounts are almost instantaneous. I have had no problems with our accounts. You are perhaps showing me the only way to transfer more than 100k SPG points to an airline account in 1 year. Transfer 100k to NW, 100K to DL - get 250 total when they link and merge. troyb Jun 20, 09, 2:20 am Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry9530/4.7.0.113 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/105) Thank- at some points the SPG points will reappear in my account when the transfer fails, correct? or do I have to email SPG to request points be reinstated in my account? You can transfer as many as you want. The limit is daily not yearly. I would tell them that you suspect that the transfers went awry because the names did not match and you would like the points returned if that is the case. This is usually how SPG gets informed about transfers that the airline has rejected and it would be a lot quicker than waiting for a return file to be sent from Delta/Northwest advising of the rejection. That might take as long as 8 weeks. Best regards, William R. Keep in mind, if your sister does not live with you, I wouldn't condone changing your address and then changing it back. SPG can see that and they may deny you for doing that, if the agent chooses to do so. They could also consider that fraudulent and it's probably not worth the hassle of having your acct frozen and an e-mail from Starwood saying they are investigating...that just wouldn't be pretty. I've definitely seen that happen to friends before. |
