Travel Technology - Decent web hosting recommendations?

I have need of some hosting services online. Low volume, low bandwidth but my server at home just isn't cutting it anymore. Oh, and I need it to support .NET applications and offer a database of some sort. I know that it won't be free and I'm OK with that.

Any recommendations or experience with companies that folks are happy with?

You might take a look at this. It is actually a pretty good deal for the basic stuff and being it is microsoft.....NET "should" not be a problem I would think.

Not sure about the .net applications, but I have been with 1 and 1 for many years (giving it away free for a few years certainly helped) and I have had virtually no problems at all.

I find their control panel clunky and slow, but that's just me.

A friend of mine has been using brinkster.com for a while now and likes them a lot. $10/month for ASP .net.

The MS option is way too basic. It is basically static web pages only which isn't going to work for me.

I tried 1and1 and the account creation was completely :rolleyes:. And then once I did get the account (8 hours after the first call to open it) it turned out that in order to use the service you have to use their DNS servers or have them as your registrar. Neither of those is going to happen so I am now in the process of canceling the account. I'll give Brinkster a call and see if they can do better...

I've been using http://www.lunarpages.com/ - initial setup awkward and interface clumsy, servers reliable, price low. It took some back and forth to get things set up, and since then everything's been smooth.

I've had fatcow.com for several years and it works for me. Best of all is that if I have a dumb question, they pick up right away and talk me through it. I think it's $99/year.

I use godaddy for all of my business sites, their customer service is fantastic. And I need all the help i can get
