Effective August 1, 2009, the ratio for points transfers from Amex Canada MR to Delta skyMiles will change to 1,000 MR = 750 Delta SkyMiles.

Would anyone care to explain how this is justified, given that most predict the CAD will again reach par with the USD very shortly? Seems that the only airline conversion that is still on a par with MR is aeroplan. Unless I'm mistaken, all other airlines will be 1,000 = 750.

Boo!

MR in Canada is p!ss-poor at best, but one of the reasons I bank MRs is to top up Aeroplan for Star Alliance and Delta for SkyTeam. Sure we also have Continental and Cathay as the only other airline partners, but because those were 1000:750 they were never really great options. It is upsetting to see Delta go down to that level since now it makes even less sense for me to keep collecting MR on my business platinum card, and makes it more appealing to just switch over completely to one of their Aeroplan cards. (Ultimately, I suspect that's the driving factor here: herding their Canadian customers to Aeroplan.)

In The Netherlands, it's 3 MR = 1 Delta skymile.
Given the fact the euro > dollar and AMEX only gives 1 MR per Euro, consider yourself lucky.
