Hertz - This is why the ZHZs are so beat up.

I'm not sure I follow....are Hertz ZHZs ex-racing school cars? I just knew they were beat up from the multitude of burnout/donut videos on Youtube.
For the record I rented one last weekend and I was well-behaved (apart from a few jaunts of brisk acceleration ). The car had about 18,000 miles on it but it was my first so I couldn't tell any better anyways.

No, the "racing school" is renting them and using them.

I rented a 2009 Corvette ZHZ convertible out of MCO the first weekend of June.
Hertz gave me a brand new one with only 4 miles on it. I was the very first person to drive it. GM must have delivered it right to their lot as it didn't even have any mileage on it from being driven from a local dealer. Needless to say I was pretty happy about this.
The Hertz Corvette convertibles are all ZHZ's now for 2009 and have a yellow exterior color with a black stripe. The 2009 ZHZ convertibles are equipped the same way as the 2008 ZHZ coupes with the dual-mode exhaust system and the magnetic selective ride control with "tour" and "sport" settings for a customized ride. All 2009's Corvette also now have bluetooth.
The 2008 and previous Corvette convertibles Hertz was renting were available in just about any color and had a different option package. They didn't have the dual mode exhaust or adjustable ride. Instead they were equipped with Heads up Display and the power/memory package which included heated memory seats with entry/exit positions, power telescopic steering wheel, and the bose audio system.
I've rented quite a few Corvettes and they're probably the only reason I rent from Hertz. I don't love them, but they're the most fun out of the limited options for vacations. A good deal at only 3,000 ZE1 points per 4 day weekend.
I actually prefer the ZHZ as a coupe since we can fit our two rollerboards easily under the targa top and have a hard time fitting them in the compromised trunk of the convertible.

Doing that sort of thing is not really all that hard on the car (with the exception of the tires), especially on a watered down track. Even on a dry track, the car should only have brake and tire wear.

I have autocross my cars and it's hard on the tires, brakes, suspension. They go through a set of tires each day for their "class".
My objection really is that tracking the car is prohibited on the T&C and that they are greatly profiting doing this, I believe they charge up to $2500 / day for their class. I'm sure they're putting more than the rental price in wear and tear on the car. I believe a reputable company would own the cars they are using for their business in this way. BTW, they also show them using the Hertz Mustang GT350H.

I agree with Tummy. I have autocrossed before and it can cause a great deal of wear on the brake pads and tires, unless the Corvette ZHZ has 8 piston ceramic braking system :D, or they switch out the tires to racing slick that they bought themselves.
Should someone be reporting them? or just the DPA rent these from Hertz and telling them the truth and Hertz charges them a higher rate?

Let's start the FlyerTalk Performance Driving School featuring the Hertz Grand Marquis. Let's face it, if you can drive that boat through any parking lot (cones or no cones) without crashing into 9 objects, you should get a trophy.

Hey wait a second.....shouldn't anyone driving the car be put down on the contract as an authorized driver? How do they get around that one?
No, the "racing school" is renting them and using them.
How do you know that? I did a quick skim read of the article and I didn't see anything which suggested that.
