It's not exactly news that B6 tends to cascade delays as the day goes on because the schedule ignores the delays built into JFK. My wife has been virtually commuting from New York to spend time in West Palm with her ill mother. She likes to return on B6#70 which is the last flight out, maximizing her time with her mom, and is usually 30-90 minutes late. A few weeks ago, it was about three hours late, so she asked if she could switch to the LaGuardia flight #366 which is scheduled to leave 2:20 earlier than the JFK flight and was similarly about 3 hours late. .The agent told her they wouldn't waive the change fee although there were plenty of seats and her flight was about 3 hours late. Today, the flight will be more than 3 hours late and, again, they are refusing to waive the change fee, even though they have a newly announced JFK arrival time of 2:34 AM and have (according to a supervisor) nine empty seats on 366. It seems to me that even when a flight is delayed for weather, there ought to be a point at which the airline permits changes without a charge. The supervisors says that if it's a weather delay, there is no point at which a no charge change will be permitted.
