I searched but didn't see any reports on this property yet, so mods please move this if I messed it up...

Stayed at the HGI Montreal Downtown (on Sherbrooke St) for one night last Sunday, and was VERY impressed. It has everything you'd expect from a HGI (microwave, fridge, free wireless, etc) but is definitely a step up, not to mention a great location. Friendly, efficient, accurate checkin. Larger rooms than typical (sorry, no photos, but mine actually looked like one of the smaller ones on the floorplan, yet I thought it was oversize), and much brighter than most. BIG windows, floor to ceiling, with great views at least on the 10th floor - 11 floors total. It's a new building, and despite facing Sherbrooke, was dead quiet. Wireless worked fine. Comfy lounging chair/footstool. Awesome, and I mean awesome, spacious rooftop gym, pool and hot tub with glass all the way round so great views. Also up there are outdoor patios on the north and west side with lots of space and lounge chairs, just great on a sunny day. Breakfast was varied and delicious...mmmm...Montreal bagels...fruit, yoghurt, pastries, etc and for the free Diamond hot brfst you order eggs/waffles/French toast from the waitstaff rather than at the counter. Oh, and Starbucks coffee both in the room and the restaurant.
Parking is underground, $20/night.
Overall, I was really pleased and would definitely return. Would be very close for Place des Arts events, Just for Laughs, Jazz Fest venues I think.

Thanks for posting. I stayed at the Embassy Suites in Old Montreal last year sometime and it was great. I'll definitely check this out for my next stay.

Stayed at this property last night, probably my 5th-6th stay since the place opened last year.

OP's report is right on.

The staff at check-in are very good and the free breakfast in main restaurant (Circos) for HH status members is very good.

Well located for my purposes, and within reasonable walking distance from both bus and train stations, weather permitting, which was NOT the case last night. $10.00 taxi ride, including tip does the job.

Stayed there last week. Typical HGI (roomwise) but we found the breakfast staff to be excellent. Nice to have the continental breakfast with meats and cheeses instead of overly-sweetened pastries, which this place didn't offer. Croissants aren't the real type however.

The restaurant was also busy at lunch and a very inviting aroma from what I believe was a mussels with tomato/herb stock was being served. On that basis, it isn't a typical HGI restaurant and I would be tempted to actually eat there.
