The Caribbean - The perfect couple vacation in the Bahamas

My girlfriend and I are looking to spend a week in the Bahamas late july or early august. We're looking mainly for:

- relaxation: nice beach, nice pool.
- nice and quiet hotel (3 or 4*).
- Good dining with some choice.
- not an adventure. If it's remote from the main town or not much sightseeing around, that's ok.

We don't mind resorts as long as they have a quiet and somewhat romantic feel to it.

At the same time, we'd like to spend around $200/night, if that's possible.

Any advice on which island to head to? Any particular hotels FTers love?
Also, about the weather: is there a lot of storms during summer over there? We'd hate to have an hour or 2 of rain every afternoon.

Thanks in advance!

July and August is hurricane season. You may get great sunny weather with no rain, rain showers everyday for an hour or so, torrential rain everyday, or a hurricane. No way to know till it's there. This is true of Florida and most of the Caribbean.

There are several islands that make up the Bahamas. You can pretty much find all price ranges available. http://www.bahamas.com/?cmpid=psg&src_aid=psg

Ok we're now pretty set on spending 5 days on Eleuthera, and we're looking at either "The Cove" near Gregory Town, or Cape Eleuthera down south.

Anyone know those resorts? Other advice on where to stay?
