so- i'm looking at the following itinerary, and saw that if i fly this with virgin, i can get a few days in london before continuing on. the good thing is i get a quick break, and also i get my continental miles.

the bad news- i'm now living in hkg, and would prefer to get cx/asia miles. I won't get enough conti miles to retain my status with them, so would forgo them for the next few years.

any other way to travel the same route? i've tried british airways, but they want to charge almost double what virgin is charging for the same route??

I don't have an answer, but just wondering, what's the price of this with VS vs. BA ? thanks.

I'd expect you to be flying on Full Y/W/J/F? cuz anything below Full Y only has 25% in BA.

Have you looked at RTW tickets ex wherever the deal is on now? (is it ICN in Asia? I'm not sure)

To earn asiamiles on BA flights,

Y,B,H earns 100% asiamiles
K,L,M earns 50% only

Try asking your TA to contact AY for you vie HEL. See if AY has a sidetrip that would include LHR otherwise you can always buy your own if the HKG-HEL-NYC return fare is good.

alternatively, redeem a HEL-LHR-HEL to nest it..
