SkyTeam - Skyteam lounge lax

I am flying on Emirates F class LAS-LAX-DXB-BOM and according to the EK website the lounge in use for this flight is the Skyteam lounge at LAX. (I am guessing the one in the International terminal)
A few questions..
1) Is is BEFORE security, so I can still nip out for a few cigarettes?
2) Is it similar to most lounges in the USA, where as yuo can avail to ONE free drink, a few dry nibbles and not much else?
3) I arrive on an AA flight from LAS where i have to wait for 4 hours, is there the usual "you cannot use the lounge prior to 3 hours of your flight departure)
4) Am i better off just standing somehwere outside smoking till just before final call for the flight -(it's 17 hours none stop, I will need ALL the nicotene I can get) or is it a half decent lounge?
Any advice to a novice skyteam lounge user much appreciated.
All SkyTeam lounges that I've ever been in offer unlimited complimentary alcohol.
In the TBIT terminal the lounge is operated by Korean and it is airside. There are also lounges in several other terminals but it isn't completely clear to me which terminal EK flies out of so I'm not sure where you'd be.
And I've not had the 3 hour issue ever either in the USA. I'd expect that you can access the lounge when you arrive on the AA flight if you choose to.

It's terminal 3 departure to DXB with EK

Hmmm....
There is not lounge operated by a SkyTeam carrier in T3. There is an Alaska Air lounge that some ST partners have access to, but it isn't really a SkyTeam lounge. There is a NW-branded lounge in T2, a DL lounge in T5 and a CO lounge in T6, alond with the KE lounge noted above. But I'm not sure which one you'd have access to.

I'd suggest asking specifically over in the EK forum as someone who has actually flown might know better.

EK must have a lounge for it's FC pax. I'm guessing it's the AS lounge in T3, which is pretty nice. Free wifi, drinks, a few snacks, nice attendents, modern decor if that is the case. It's just upstairs from the gates. Didn't realize EK came out of T3, seems odd or incorrect....

After much confusion, I have since found out that EK departs from the Tomas Bradly International Terminal at LAX - so my question remains - what is the SkyTeam lounge like there please? Flight departs around 4pm..

Was the answer you received in the thread you posted in the EK forum not sufficient?

It is the KE lounge. If you need more information about it ask in the KE forum. My guess is open bar and light snacks, but you'd have to confirm from folks who actually know the KE product.
There is truly very little that SkyTeam does as an alliance so there is very little information that really exists in the SkyTeam forum. In almost every case the answer is actually specific to the operating airline and there are fora on FT for all of them.
Here's the info direct from KE: http://www.koreanair.com/local/na/gp/eng/aa/wa/eng_aa_wa.jsp.

The "Skyteam lounge" at TBIT is a Korean Air branded lounge. It has a Korean Air theme and is newly remolded. I think it is quite nice by LAX TBIT standards and US standards in general. Unlimited self serve booze ;). Little sandwiches and light snack food but nothing that impressive food wise. You should be OK getting in 4 hours before departure. Generally carriers at TBIT open check-in 4 hours before departure and if you are checked in and through security, they will let you in the lounge.
It is airside and there is absolutely no smoking anywhere but the sidewalk out in front of the terminal. The Elite/Premium class security line at TBIT tends to be fairly fast and efficient so if you have a long layover it would not be unreasonable to go to the lounge, then go back outside to chain smoke 4 or 5 cigarettes and then clear security a second time.
