Using the "Priority Club Elite Experience" template (and also posted there, as I'm not sure the best place to post these days)....
What is your Priority Club status?
Platinum (RA)
Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Mixed. It was a base whilst in central london during the tube strike, and it performed its function very well. However, I'm not sure I'd stay there out of choice, or for a holiday. On the first night it was overrun with student groups with lots of luggage, giving reception an airport terminal feel.
Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Executive on a 2-4-1 deal (they'd run out of 2-4-1 on standard rooms - I was just a couple of days too late).
I received an Exec room, as was told they don't upgrade to suites here.
However, after a phone call to reservations at the hotel, was given complimentary english breakfast both days - perfect!
NB was also told that if you book an Exec room, you get a free drinks voucher for use in the bar or restaurant for each night of your stay (for all staying in exec rooms - not just for elites). I completely forgot about this at check-in and didn't receive them, but when I went back about 30mins later, they gave me two, dated vouchers which were valid for beer, wine, or soft drinks. I went for a large sauvignon blanc on both nights, which would've cost me £6.99 per glass, so can't complain there. Just make sure you ask for the vouchers though!!!
How are the rooms?
It was fine for what it was.
Basic, but with a huge bed (might have even been superking). Tiny TV; large expensive minibar; opening windows; desk, but with no useful light on it for working.
Bathroom was clean, with full compliment of the standard "seaweed therapy" amenities. Shower was a real disappointment though - very low pressure.
Asking at reception, the difference between an exec room and normal is a slightly bigger room, with 1.5 seat sofa; bathrobe and slippers; 330ml can of Britvic orange juice; 500ml bottle of still water, and a chunky kit-kat!!
How is the exec. lounge?
n/a
What was good and what was bad?
Good
Drinks Voucher
Location - very close to Gloucester Road tube
Bed size
Bad
Shower pressure
Tired, dated room
No minibar tariff in room when I replied. I requested it once from reception - nothing appeared. On the second time of asking, I was told the person had gone home. It DID appear the next day though
The bar - it was a dreadful "local pub" feeling place. Urgh!
Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
On a 2-4-1 deal, it wasn't a bad price for central london. However, at normal rates, there are lots of other hotels in the area, and the newly refurbished CP across the road seems to be doing good deals at the minute (June 09). If you can get a good deal, yes
