JetBlue TrueBlue - Airline Job Interview Tomorrow

Hello Everyone
I have been offered a job interview for an Airport Customer Service/ Operations position with Jetblue airways for their new operations at LAX.
If I am offered for the job, would my training be in the LA area or would I be going outside of California? If so, how long would it be? I am not taking any summer classes for the next two months so traveling somewhere around the country wouldnt be a problem.
Just wondering if anyone here might have some insight on this.

Welcome to Flyertalk:
I'm not a Jetblue employee, but it's my understanding that your training would be in Newyork(JFK). I do not know for sure how long. Please be sure to ask all of these questions at your interview. I also wish you the best of luck & please let us know how it goes.

Definitely something to ask at the interview, but when you do make clear that isn't a problem just that you would need to be ready for that eventuality. Good luck!

Congratulations on the interview, and best of luck to you! Initial Airport Operations training is conducted at the JetBlue University campus in Orlando. I believe it typically begins on a Wednesday and runs through the following Friday, though I'm not 100% certain on the length.
Good luck!

training is usually in orlando, but seeing how LAX is a new operation i wouldn't be surprised if they trained you over at LGB or something. If it's out in orlando they'll pay for obviously your flight there and back, hotel expenses and your per diem is 40 bucks a day for food. You should be in Orlando about 2.5 weeks. First 2 days is orientation which is really boring but you still get paid. Then it's training for about 9-10 business days. Weekends are free to enjoy Orlando, or take a trip somewhere:cool:. They'll stick you at an airport hotel so not much to do around
if you have any questions please ask!

Thank you to everyone for your insights! Thankfully my summer is pretty empty except for work so if I am offered the job it shouldnt be a problem.
One other thing, about a month ago, I recieved a speeding ticket. Wil this automatically mean that I will not be able to get the job?

No, You will have to payable the speeding ticket at the court. You will not too worried about your job. You will have more investigations from the judge will says something for you. This is regards that you will have to paid the citation.

The speeding ticket will not be a problem, just make sure you disclose it.

Speeding tickets should never be disclosed. Most job applications specifically say not to include traffic tickets. Every one I have ever seen has said not to include traffic citations.
Stating a traffic citation will either make you look nervous or reckless. I've never seen that question on applications, so leave out giving that information.

Thank you everyone for your replies!!
The interview went pretty nicely. The person who cunducted the interview was extremely easygoing and very talkative. I go back on Monday to do fingerprinting.
In terms of the speeding ticket. I did disclose it and she didnt seem to upset or concerned about. Id rather them know from me than find it out in a check of some sort and have them think I was hiding something.
Now how long is is usually for the background check to go through, and how long until I might find out if I got the job?

You will have wait for your background check will be clearance sometime in between 3 or 5 days. You will have wait to see if they will accepted your new job. When you can go to work within approximately 3 or 5 days to be result your fingerprinted screening is cleared. They will called you when you can go to work and pick it up the SIDA badge.

Since the background checks and fingerprinting aren't done by B6, it can take a while. 3-5 days minimum, though a few weeks is not uncommon. I'm sorry I can't be more specific, but expect anywhere from 5 days to a month.
Good luck!

Thanks again to evryone who posted their input. It has been very valuable and hopefully I will be working for an airline very soon.
On a side note: I am currently in college. Mt San Antonio College to be exact. And I usually take between 12-15 units a semester. Are airlines pretty nice to college students. I understand the bid system and ow schedules are based around that and of course the almighty seniority system. But anyone here who is in the same boat as me? College wise at least?

The college part should not be a problem. If B6 has a union(that I'm not sure of) it is harder to work around your schedule. However after you've been there x number of days you can swap which is a great benefit. At my airline you must complete probation(90days) before you can swap.

jetblue has no union. I know people from my training who are students down in the long beach/LA area and they have worked their schedules around school. You bid for a schedule every once in a while..but im not sure how long because up her in SEA we only have a few flights a day...

Yeah, This is where new worker is hiring and they will have go to orientation before he/she can begin to work in approximately for 2 or 3 days. You will have 30 minutes break from work. Whatever if you want go to lunch or dinners. When you have punch in/out clock. This is your own responsibilities job follow the rules at entire airlines.

hey i applied to the airport ops positions for Newark airport about a month ago. i was one of the people selected from the in person interviews to move onto the next stage of hiring and did my drug test the same day as the in person interview and completed my background check information via Email through the third party company who does the background checks for jet blue, then was scheduled for the physical abilities test and finger printing the Friday before last Friday, a week an a half ago. i have not heard from them since. does anyone know how long it takes to be notified if you have been hired? if hired i understand that i will have to go to Orlando for training first.

I was hired 3.5 years ago but I wouldn't worry yet. If I recall, it took two full weeks after the one on one for them to call me. It has taken more for some departments (ie: Inflight). Good luck!

As an ex B6 employee, in customer service, let me be the first to tell you that B6 is a great company to work for. They treat all of their employees well. Training used to be done at LGB, and it depends on if they have instructors to come to the west coast for the classes, now almost all is done in MCO at the Training Base there. The class is 2 and 1/2 weeks long. Its not bad at all, just watch them and do the work, 99 percent of the people pass.

i don't know about 99% passing lol. because 3 people from my training class got sent home. including a girl who went with me from my station in SEA. And to this day i still don't understand how they didn't pass...they did get 3 chances.
