Dollar - How Note Damage Before Leaving Lot

I have not done a lot of car rentals. I know with Thrifty once they had a postcard size yellow card on the dash of the rental for you to note prior damage on.
Before checking out through the guard gate you could hand the card to him to initial the areas you circled on the card showing it was prior damage.
How does Dollar do this and what do you get in return proving you pointed it out to them prior to leaving the lot?

Different locations of different companies do things differently.
Dollar will likely do something similar to what Thrifty did for you.
Note that some locations don't have guard gates and that you'll need to return the inspection slip to the CSR in the office.
As for your own proof, usually there isn't much unless you have a second carbon copy that you can keep with the markings. You'll have to ask the rental agent when you get there how to do it.

Dollar has an Inspection form wich you fill out and you get to keep a carbon copy for your records.
Besides the paperwork, I ALWAYS take photos or a video (I always have one or the other with me) BEFORE I leave the lot.
Years ago, I had a lot attendant tell me that the big scratch on the back L side of a car wasn't there when I left. I informed them, it was there, it was noted and I took photos of the entire car before I left the lot (probably 5-6 shots). It was never mentioned to me again. A photo (that gets dated by the camera) is very hard to dispute in court. ;)
Yes, it takes a few extra minutes (maybe 5-10 at most) to snap photos but it certainly is worth it in the long run.
Y..:)

I always take a video before I leave the lot AND when I return the car. I want to make sure I don't get charged for any damage done after I leave.
