Cathay Pacific Asia Miles - 11 Hour 50 Minute Block Time for HKG-SFO?

An upcoming HKG-SFO flight lists the block time as being 11 hours and 50 minutes. This seems awfully short to me, considering the 6900 mile distance and, even though it is an eastbound flight, other similar distance flights that I've taken (NRT-JFK for example) have block times of at least another hour.
Is this really the correct block time for the flight or did someone leave off an extra hour (maybe got the time zones wrong)? If so, how often is this flight (CX 870 to be particular) late arriving in SFO if it leaves HKG on time?
I ask because I have a 2 hour layover, which is not much time if the flight is late by more than 30 minutes.
Thanks!

It does seem short. It should be between 12 and 12.5 hours.

I don't know which flight 870 is, but I have taken both the 2 pm and 4 pm HKG-SFO flights several times, and remember doing the route in under 11 hours once (like 10 hrs, 15 mins). I am pretty sure the flight is under 12 hours. Each time my flight left HKG late, but arrive almost an hour early. Immigration lines at SFO have been long.

Maybe they've updated their block time to reflect more accurately the real flight time. I've noticed in North America a lot of American airlines actually INCREASES block time so when they're delayed (which is common occurrence in US airports) technically they will still not be late.
I've also notice on international flights I regularly arrive 1 and sometimes 1.5 hours ahead of block time.

Yes, CX870/872 can sometimes be a 10.5 hours flight, but it can sometimes be a 12 hours flight. There are a few flights arriving just before CX870. So the line is longer. This is not the case for CX872.

This would seem to be a correct flight time.
I did HKG-LAX on CX in 10hrs 47 mins.
Very very strong tail winds going eastbound at certain times.
I think you'll find the return flight is blocked much much longer 9by several hours in fact).

They're not trying to goose their on-time statistics. It's too expensive a proposition. The more extra time the pad into the schedule the fewer flights the existing equipment can make (in other words, poor aircraft utilization), and so revenue ultimately suffers. Which basically means that the horrendous state of the US air traffic control system is in fact hurting the airlines profitability and likely keeping fares artificially high.

11 hours 50 minutes is correct for the northern winter schedule.
Right now -- northern summer times -- it's 12 hours 25 minutes' block time HKG - SFO on a CX 744. Actuals are generally less.
