Is there a specific reason, why Finnair doesn't sell reasonably priced oneway tickets MAN-HEL? You can easily find some for LON-HEL, but ex MAN it's always fully flexible economy. It really bugs me a lot.

Helsinki Flyer Jun 11, 09, 8:49 am LON-HEL there´s direct competition from Blue1 and Easyjet. We might not like these airlines, but they keep Finnair on it´s toes. Then there´s also Ryanair from Tampere. FlyingFinn Jun 12, 09, 1:38 am That's mostly true, but occasionally there are cheapish o/w-tickets available ex-MAN as well - I've seen around 140-150 EUR a few times. Still more expensive than from some other places but way cheaper than full Y. I'm actually a bit puzzled by AY's one-way fare strategy, there doesn't seem to be too much sense in it - if they even have such a thing, that is! You can usually get one-way fares from Central Europe to Finland (or vv.) but only on some, seemingly random days of the week. Even on routes with quite heavy direct competition (DUS with AB twice daily and cheap fares) one-way tickets are not consistently available. Then again on routes with no real competition (like VIE, OS doesn't do one-way tickets on this route if at all) you still get those from AY. frankvb Jun 13, 09, 2:14 pm In my experience ex-UK Finnair does only sell one-way tickets booking into either full Y, or A (and just found W) booking class. I guess you can book the AY flight as a BA code-share? BA has no such limitation. Just found a £63 fare for MAN-HEL booking into O class, it is for March 2010 though. Yeah, A used to be the lowest one-way booking class, but nowadays it's being surpassed by W. I just checked and I could find GBP 79 all-in fares for one-way MAN-HEL in W for August/September 2009. Availability seemed to be almost daily from mid-August onward. All this on the finnair.fi site. That's actually a very good price, makes me think about some future runs that would involve this as the homebound segment. mosburger Jun 13, 09, 9:43 pm I recently bought a cheapish SAS oneway fare rather last minute. Maybe routing MAN - ARN/CPH - HEL is possible? helahela Jun 14, 09, 7:25 pm It's not really HEL I'm after it's a connection to TLL. Also looking for the best dates(for an airline) to travel (23rd December to go out. All I can think of it that most airlines do reasonably priced ow flights and Finnair is not amongst them. Kicks me in the nackers twice a year. |
