Las Vegas - What's Slots O Fun like really?

Umissable, or unplayable?
What's your actual first-hand experience of the place, and would you consider it a must-see? We're on the Strip at the MGM Grand, but don't mind slumming it, nor spending the change in our pockets (though I draw the line at eating hot dogs in casinos).
Worth the trip?

I was there last August, and actually won on the slots big time! Did not have any food, just a couple of beers. The only hotdog I'll have is a Hebrew National or other Kosher dog. Call me picky. The slots are much looser than the strip casinos. Also went downtown and won on slots.
It is a very crowded place.
Slum it, and have some fun.

I wouldn't make a trip specifically to see it but one can do Slots-O-Fun, Circus Circus, then walk across the street to the Riviera for the "why would they do this" tour of the north strip.
Also prime viewing area for the structures of Echelon (halted) and Fontainebleau (essentially halted with no funding, much closer to completion).

Last August there were just a lot of empty lots at the north end of the strip.

Neither. Last time I was there, I got yelled at by a little old lady when I tried to play a machine that she had been "watching" for a friend for ten minutes. Definite ^ Vegas experience!
If you have good coupons, stop on by.

Possibly the funniest thing ever written on this forum. I'd submit it for the newsletter thingie, but, well, you know...

Slots of fun is a dump. Low rent style and clientele. It is part of the LV experience to visit such places but I would just go downtown for a day as there are plenty of them there.
Enjoy!

I think it iS LOTS OF FUN!
low end/dpwm market-but a lot of fun.
And I think they have some low min table games as well.

I learned how to play craps there years ago. It was a cheap lesson. Not a bad place-most of the dealers were very happy to help-I tipped them well, of course!
Main appeal is definitely the low limits. Not sure if they still have it but I played a few hours of $1 BJ in the middle of the night a few years back and I think the craps minimum was $3 when I dropped by this Jan. I find the staff generally friendly.
Not worth a special trip out there unless you want to mess around with some fairly low tables. And really not worth allocating any of your limited vacation time just playing the machines there tho.

Comparatively, I was learned to play craps a few years back at a $10 table at Bally's and my losses quickly mounted pretty quick.
Sleazy fun is the best way to describe it.
Cheap food, cheap beer and lots of people who like cheap food, cheap beer.
I used to go there a lot when I would stay at the old Stardust.
Met lots of frat boys and sorority girls out for a cheap beer buzz before heading out to the pricier locations.
Never won much at the slots, but could usually play for a long time on a small budget.
In other words, as I mention on my website, if you are looking for some place to kill some time for little or no money, this would be a place to hang out and see how the lower crust lives. It is sort of the last bastion of "old cheap Vegas" on the Strip.

Slots of Fun is a good dump. Worth a quick stop as are the nearby Riviera and Circus Circus, if you're tired of main strip $15 minimums. Visit Slots of Fun while you can, all the "good" dumpy places, like the dearly departed Westward Ho (http://www.westwardho.com/) (which used to be next door) are rapidly disappearing.
I also miss the Boardwalk, Frontier, Stardust...
