The following was included at the end of my latest billing statement for my Delta Platinum AMX card:

Annual Fee
As of August 15, 2009, we will no longer offer a discount on the annual fee to Delta SkyMiles Cardmembers who have a separate, qualifying charge card account. This change does not apply to Cardmembers who are already receiving the discounted annual fee before that date and continue to maintain their qualifying charge card account. Accordingly, as of August 15, 2009, the Annual Fee section of your Agreement is deleted and replaced with the following:

"Annual Fee
Classic: The annual fee for the Account is $55.
Gold: The annual fee for the Account is $95.
Platinum: The annual fee for the Account is $150."

My understanding from this is that as long as I maintain both my regular Platinum AMX card and the Delta Platinum AMX card, I will continue to receive a discount on the Delta card, which I think results in the annual fee for the card to be $95 dollar instead of $150. Does that interpretation sound right? I can obviously call AMX, but I find that half the time they don't know what's going on with new changes.

Quite the opposite, they are getting rid of the discount... :(

Stargazer, I'm not sure what you were trying to say, but it encouraged me to just call. AMX confirmed that as long as I maintain my Platinum AMX card, which is considered a charge card, I will continue to receive the discounted fee for my Delta Platinium AMX card, which is considered a credit card.

In my previous response, I have highlighted parts of your post that pretty much explain it all. It seems to me that they are getting rid of the discount as of August 19th.

Stargazer, I think you are missing the part where it says that if you are already receiving the discount you will continue to receive the discount.

AMX is NOT getting rid of the discount as of August 15th if you maintain your AMX Platinum charge card (or other eligible charge card). You are grandfathered in to receiving the discount on the second card into the future.

However, I am not absolutely sure what happens if you go out today (obviously this is before the cut-off date of August 15th) and sign up for both a Platinum card and a Delta Platinum card in terms of the discount. My assumption would be that you should also receive the discount now and into the future.

Thank you frequentflying.

Yes Dreps,
you're right.
I read that as: "discounts will apply until 8/19 and if one's renewal date is after 8/19 no discount".
I like your interpretation better :)
