 On Sunday, June 7 I checked into renting a car at FLL through Enterprise. Found a deal on a Dodge Charger for total tax-in price of 109.15 for June 23-25. I have never rented from Enterprise before so I decided to join Enterprise Plus first and see if that would help get any perks or discounts. I waited until today, June 9th to recheck for a rental, now the price is 168.95 after joining Enterprise Plus. I understand cars could be gone, prices go up, etc., but the prices at Dollar, Avis, Hertz and others had not changed in the 2 day period. This would be like having your A/C go out on your car on a 75 degree day, getting an estimate to repair it for $500, waiting a couple of days to find a coupon or arrange financing, then the heat wave hits, temperatures are in the 90's, and now the repair facility says the price will be $850 because they are busier and in more demand. The Attorney General would be after any vehicle repair shop that operated that way and they would be on 60 Minutes the next Sunday! Is there any difference in these marketing strategies? Any advice would be appreciated.

Was the original rate a pre-paid rate and the Enterprise Plus rate is not?
Otherwise..... next time you might want to go ahead and book the cheap rate when you see it. It's typical for rental car rates to change wildly DURING any particular day. Always lock it in and then improve later. Also, even though the site says "Dodge Charger", there's no guarantee that's what you'll get. Plenty of examples of folks being "upgraded" to SUVs, etc.
(A vehicle repair estimate is typically valid for a certain number of days, as stated on its documentation. The rental agencies are pretty clear that their quote is valid for a very short duration, take it or leave it.)
I see plenty of cars available at Alamo for under $100 on those dates. Use contact ID 430710 (Wal-Mart Customers) or 7012032 (Mastercard Users). Combine with coupon code AU2729MJW for a free one-class upgrade.

The original rate was not a pre-paid rate

Also, I talked to a very nice customer service lady on Tuesday night. She assured me someone would call me to address this question on Wednesday.
No one called. Looks like Enterprise may never get my business with this lack of care and concern.

To be honest, I'm not sure why you're so upset. The rate changed over 2 days, on a reservation you did not actually book. And there are cheaper cars available from other reputable vendors.
So just book elsewhere. Why is it vendetta-worthy?

I am not on a vendetta, just frustrated. Kind of like the guy in a hurricane zone when the price of lumber triples right before landfall.
By the way, a very nice representative from the FLL office called me at 6:45 p.m. Thursday and agreed to handle the original quote without any questions.
Very professional and a person with very high level of integrity.
