At the actual normal rate of 1250 DC for 1000 AA, that offers brings that to a 1 : 1 value. Not bad, but not fantastic imho!

Is the Canadian DC/AA ratio different than the US ratio, because it is 1:1 in the US.

Yes the ratio is different for Canadian DC cardholders. In the Canadian program the standard ( there are some exceptions ) conversion rate is 1:25 to 1 ( ie. 1250 DC points converts to 1000 AA miles ).

It has been this way as long as I have had my DC card, 7 or 8 years.

I always assumed because the CDN dollar was worth less than the US dollar that DC wanted Canadians to spend more CDN dollars to earn the same number of Flyer Miles. But whether that is really the logic behind it I cannot say.

That was the general reasoning. Until July this represents parity with the US$ and worth looking at, though I am conflicted betwem either AA miles or Hyatt points.

It should perhaps be noted for anyone thinking about taking advantage of this offer that the 25% bonus ONLY applies to the first DC - AA transfer that you make during the promotional period.

This is spelled out fairly clearly in the offer T and C's on the DC Canada website;

"plus an additional one time bonus 25% miles by converting at least 1,250 or more Club Rewards points during the promotional period."

But my tiny brain failed to take notice of this, so I was a bit surprised when I didn't receive the bonus on the 2nd transfer I made. Fortunately the 2nd transfer was for a relatively small number of points so I didn't miss out on many bonus miles.
